grep -v '^#\|^$' /etc/apt/sources.list{,.d/*}

That line is chicken scratches to me but that comma in {,.d/*} looks out of place so wondering if it is a typo.

From Distrowatch it appears that Buster/testing has a 4.9.82 kernel, which is not recent enough for a Ryzen 7 2700U. Am I wrong?

Use backports.  Search for packages here. Also consider hanging out on irc freenode #devuan.  We just discussed the kernel thing over there.

@golinux: Thank you for the link. Just wondering why it is not advertised on the website.

Because it is a testing iso not a stable release for general use.

Pietro wrote:

Should I not use their ISOs?

All Debian packages are supplied by redirects through amprolla3 directly from the Debian repos.  Anything that could break Devuan is filtered and blacklisted.

Pietro wrote:

- Should I install mini.iso on a USB stick and boot from there?

Sure!  If you're installing an Xfce DE you can get the beowulf theme pieces here and install them manually.

LOL, wheezy is one of the versions i just deleted as a waste of space.  I'm running Devuan ascii, with backups on Debian jessie and Ubuntu oneiric, none of them have systemd as i'm reading it.  Ug like.

IIRC the bit was libsystemd0 not the full init.

#2031 Re: Hardware & System Configuration » How to install Devuan Ceres without starting from ASCII? » 2019-04-12 18:18:28

Have a look at the mini.iso.  Might be a good starting point for you.  linux-image-4.19.0-4 is in beowulf.

PS.  It is advised to never use the Debian repos directly.  Could cause much grief at some point.

Not a problem, the only place the mouse was visible is an icon that's now something else.

With desktop-base, the Devuan "swoosh" icon should have replaced the mouse.  Hmmmm . . . have to check on that.

#2034 Re: Devuan » comments about Devuan ascii » 2019-04-11 00:35:08

@crankypuss . . . If you install desktop-base you will get the complete darkpurpy theme from grub to slim to the desktop including custom colored directory icons.   If you don't do that, you get the rodent.   The parts of the beowulf theme are available from a thread on this forum but they are not yet integrated into the beowulf desktop-base.

I'm in Boston with Greg atm but headed back to the airport in a few hours.  I'm so delighted to to able to catch up, I may just stay up all night (flight leaves at 5:45 am).  Saw your post and have stickied it.  Thanks for doing that.

Thanks for doing this.  Eventually all those segments will be edited and posted individually so stay tuned.

Or do you want it to be its own sticky/thread?

PS: working on day 2 now.

I think it should be its own sticky but you can also leave in the other threads.  Unfortunately I may not be back online to sticky it for a day or so - I do not own a mobile device so can only work through the dyne HQ which limits my online time and will be in the airport much of the next days.

golinux, we could make this a sticky somewhere, or make it "prettier" for the website....

Thank you for doing this ChuangTzu.  Everything will be posted to the website once it is edited.  If you have the time, please post this list in the announcements section and I can sticky it next time I'm here.  I made one small correction to the list.  KatolaZ' talk is "The Quests for Minimalism" - plural - because there are many ways to get there.

The atmosphere here is amazing.  I think that the brainpower collected in that room could light the city of Amsterdam!

Edit:  I see that Fredd has the title singular on the video.  Will ask him to change that.

Welcome Roger.  You can also transition your current installations to Devuan.  There is documentation on the download page and ask here or on the dng mail list if you have questions.

Hmmm . . . I just went to 8gb of memory on a 32bit pae kernel and it often shows more than 4gb in use.  Will have to keep an eye on that when I get home.

It unfolded on #devuan.   I was not amused.
