#176 Re: Devuan Derivatives » how to setup installer with different desktop rather than Xfce4 » 2017-06-26 19:53:29

git.devuan.org seems quite some inactive.. only few things are updated ...  there's no installer project that permits alternate Xcfe4 desktop

in any way thanks.. i'm still in the process

thanks, its a start point.. but seems its not so easy to understant for newbies.. the question that i formulated its for people that are non-familiar with development process..

the question that i formulate its more related for users dessire or wanted packages that are not comming from debian and are related only to devuan but are not in devuan yet.. how users can report a "request" for "something", i not refers to "user want to package"

You can tell which ones we have changed by looking at the version. The devuanized packages say 'devuan' in the version. devuan1 for jessie, devuan2 for ascii.

great important info.. for all newbies this are part of debian packaging policie when a package makes derivate from other..

#179 Re: Devuan Derivatives » how to setup installer with different desktop rather than Xfce4 » 2017-06-26 18:53:09

always about documentation.. we need document how to help for newbies..  i see the documentation ?.?  roll ?.? of https://dev1galaxy.org/viewtopic.php?id=549 d1h but seems are not easy to undestand for newbies.. and some non-speaking english users

this due for change the default desktop maybe we need to recreate some special packages

#180 Re: Devuan Derivatives » how to setup installer with different desktop rather than Xfce4 » 2017-06-26 17:29:53

neutral

ok, lest remenber the nomadays: Sponsorship means that a Debian Developer uploads the package on behalf of the actual maintainer. The Debian Developer will also check the package for technical correctness and help the maintainer to improve the package if necessary. Therefore the sponsor is sometimes also called a mentor

that's was called the "mentors system", and my question there's some similar way to non-devuan mantainers to upload works to the "mentors"...

how can people that are not close in activity to devuan upload or put work?

#181 Re: Devuan Derivatives » how to setup installer with different desktop rather than Xfce4 » 2017-06-26 16:00:29

golinux its there any plan to get futer incubation process for users like mentors or similar?

#182 Re: Devuan » devuan RFP or ITP are same as in Debian or how can we made it? » 2017-06-26 15:59:18

hi @fsmithred but the question was who to report RFP/ITP/RFR etc, i used hardinfo as example.. how comes that in devuan? uff this very frustrating

how can i report a request for upgrade, for package or intent for package in devuan? due there's new packages available and updates to reports.. like recent hardinfo changes not well tracket in Debian.. among others

due there's no documentation (and by me) at least with spell error can be.. something we need at least a point of reference that's its better thant nothing

The placeholder on git has never been developed.   Devuan  documentation is currently being developed on the Friends of Devuan wiki.  That may eventually be moved to Doc Devuan.

With all due respect . . . you do not have the language skills to write acceptable documentation in English.  Please focus you energies elsewhere.

i write previously several material about specific topics in that wiki..  but now i cant post any! seems that i not have the skill based on your poor eyes on my recent post here.. well seem that if some of my material will be taken i will remenber where come from.. right

i' was trying to explain that, but its very frustraing.. all the users are confusiong disk baculp with file sync backup! now the post are very ove-hiyakyng respect the original idea!

#186 Re: Off-topic » backup systems sheet comparison » 2017-06-25 03:55:34

ok its insteresting well-knowed how we can made backup of ONE disk at HOME . but seems people here are with short eyes and little mind!

the topic are for organizational systems, not for a one computer at home! now i already know why companies have so much power.. ! there-s no vision!

#187 Re: Off-topic » backup systems sheet comparison » 2017-06-24 12:36:42

That's why i put the sheet comparison.. for REAL information..

documenttion its important to claryfy bad made concepts: WHY A COMPLEX SUSPPORT SYSTEM? mantain in sync 2 machines its easy, but automate 22 machines every day, remotelly its not so easy for people that have many reponsabilities.. for that we need a "automated system".. and what about 200 machines in the job building!?

the http://venenuxmassenkoh.blogspot.com/20 … manda.html sheet its for a point of start.. does not covert specific info like authors, lines of code, requeriments..

its made for more general comparison respect needs.. The purpose is REAL information and clarification of, due not all the people have a limited brain and may think more beyond of their vision..

This allows you to choose a SUPPORT BACKUP SYSTEM (and not only any program isolated) based on the needs and problems that may arise in the environment ..

To that table of comparisons, it is lacking to know which this one and which not in Debian and Devuan.

#188 Re: Hardware & System Configuration » hp laptos, camera problem ans reason of why get hand [no solution] » 2017-06-24 02:18:44

its not a devuan problem... its a linux problem..  there-s a usb bus limitation in the USB implementation..

some special cases the camera get's on and never go offf... i try winbuntu, devuan, debian... in various versions.. only MS  guindows 7 works.. (well "was" due i removed jejeje)

the only way i find to solve its power off, reboot does not are enough

#189 Re: Off-topic » backup systems sheet comparison » 2017-06-24 02:15:18

comparing a refracta again bareos are crazy? refracta its a local only backup system.. i'm talking about shared collaborative environment..

its like comparing google agains sqlite.. obviously one its part of the other, but the other its the one!

its not about what are the best.. simply the refracta are not for a complex shared collaborative environment...

if you talk about MS sharepoint.. but men please!

Perhaps your criteria need adjustment?  Some websites just aren't worthy of traffic.  Your requirements and priorities may not match everyone else's.  Be calm, and observe.

tri it at github.com!.. i could not edit a already made issue... in firefox works.. but i hate now firefox.. tooo slower

but its maybe common in this days of constans changes on web.. one day works, another not!

also now appears upside the advertise that "your browser are not supported"

currently right now i at the older version of chrome.. in the other machine i have lasted of palemoon.. same advertise its present

#192 Re: Off-topic » backup systems sheet comparison » 2017-06-22 17:36:20

yeah, but clonezilla its more oriented to rescue tools, the list its to focused in diary backup tool

about rsyn, that's i used, but for shared environments coordination are important!

in the comparison one of the system are a complete complex frontend to rsync.. that coordinates file access for severall concurrent users, also with extra check and friendly user interface..

i mean: https://devuan.org/os/#quick-overview said "several" sources in docs, but the  link! the project of documentation seem 2 years inactive! so there's no project at all

several other pages too.. seems there's its no organization.. i recomended to put the complete Devuan page at the git and one team control the post that will be made it!

i not talking about priority, i talking about some king of responses... for the users...

it seems we need more documentation effors .. when i send the i18n problem languaje.. the bugtraker still in last release only list Debian related packages.. that confuses newer users..... due we are not in Devuan..

its that fact "not constructuve" noot, its a problem and i notice to solve it! for that i try to lear to package and ask today to kalotaz how to process but without network connection..

currenlty if some users want ot use Devuan,. but cannot use in native languaje.. will let Devuan.. and future of the distro depends of the users choice.. not of the developers dessires... due we all are together not only the developers

Please the link https://git.devuan.org/groups/devuan-doc seems no have activity.. but the sheet sayd "several".. i only see two sources... debian and the "inactive" link or i mean no activity!

material to start made your own comparison..

http://venenuxmassenkoh.blogspot.com/20 … manda.html

the reading are spanish, but the table comparison are language-less so users can starts from that table to make own criteria...

list of systems compared: Bacula    Bareos    Amanda    Burp    Tivoli    Veritas    Legato    ARCserve    Arkeia    Quest    LBackup

For something simple and fast, bacuppc; but if it is for an "all in one" centralized, bareos.

For distributed and clustered environments you can try bacula, but Bareos complies with this without complicating.

But if you want something generalized multiplatform, you can try with some burp effort, because it has a web interface provided by an alternate project, burp-ui, which is very intuitive, also uses another external project called burp-browser for customers, Both in github.

FReeNAS its not only a backup system, its a complete OS, integrates a backula system.
