#1952 Re: Desktop and Multimedia » Plasma 5.16 » 2019-09-02 21:29:55

You can check which versions are available in which release/repo here:
https://pkginfo.devuan.org/

#1953 Re: Desktop and Multimedia » wine32 » 2019-09-01 17:08:35

I think part of the the problem in beowulf is due to versions mismatch.  elogind in beowulf eliminates libsystemd0.

This thread may help:

Always good to search before asking.  wink

#1955 Re: Off-topic » Websites with Arguments against systemd » 2019-08-28 18:27:31

Are we really going down this road again?  IMO the best analysis of all is here.  Not a "website" but nails the issues in one post:

#1956 Re: Hardware & System Configuration » s6 on devuan » 2019-08-27 07:43:17

@Miyo . . . I was just going to post that.  Happy to see that you found it.

#1957 Re: Off-topic » Marginalizing systemd » 2019-08-26 22:21:31

This is a question to be asked on Red Hat or Fedora forum.  And best to do research before asking/answering.

#1958 Re: Desktop and Multimedia » Random freezing on desktop » 2019-08-23 15:05:49

Skylake (and other *lake processors) have been troublesome for years.   That may or may not be the OP's issue but there could be something useful in that thread.  There are other references to Skylake on this forum too.

#1959 Re: Off-topic » Knoppix 8.6 — first wide public release to abandon systemd » 2019-08-23 04:04:17

That question is a total waste of time and mental space. It would be more useful to focus on what needs to be done for Devuan NOW.

#1960 Re: Desktop and Multimedia » Random freezing on desktop » 2019-08-22 22:31:40

top or htop will let you investigate running processes.  mate-system monitor is also useful (but pulls in quite a few gnome deps).

#1961 Re: Other Issues » apt https fail (beowulf) » 2019-08-11 18:54:45

Most devuan mirrors do not support https.  Either use http or choose one specific mirror that provides https.

#1963 Re: DIY » Without Devuan , With Debian » 2019-08-07 15:15:33

No need to reinvent the wheel.  Devuan already does that.  All "safe" Debian packages are available from Devuan repos using  Amprolla 3 to filter packages that would break Devuan.

#1964 Re: Other Issues » debian buster packages broke my system » 2019-08-04 17:37:46

Debian repos are already available in Devuan repos via redirect.  Debian repos should never be used directly.  Did you look for krita in ascii backports?   You likely have created a frankendevuan.  I am not one to help you out of the hole you're in.  But I imagine a reinstall might be the only way out of this or possibly an upgrade to beowulf (which isn't really ready for primetime yet).

"We are building the new neuro-anatomy of the human race. In the process we are destroying the human attention system, changing our idea of what it means to be human. The effect on our capacity for freedom and self-government is devastating, but not so bad for those who want to govern us. People are increasingly aware of the problem, but don't know what to do. In this talk, I explain how and why."

Why Freedom of Thought Requires Attention

Here at Devuan are trying to fix our small corner of this bigger problem.  Title of the conference was "tl;dr". Yes, this talk is longish but well worth the time . . . imo, of course.

#1966 Re: Installation » Beowulf ISO for a server install » 2019-07-26 17:31:34

Beowulf has not been released yet.  If you want to upgrade, just change ascii to beowulf in your sources.list after fully updating and upgrading.

#1967 Re: Desktop and Multimedia » Beowulf: UPower 0.99 removed? Versus Logitech Unifying Receiver » 2019-07-20 16:20:12

Except for the few packages we need to clean up and blacklisted packages, Devuan pulls directly from Debian repos via redirect.  Have no idea how others downstream from Debian do it.

#1969 Re: Off-topic » Mate and Trinity » 2019-07-19 06:45:06

In our case it's because no one has volunteered to package and maintain it.  Last year I had a discussion with the Trinity folks about doing just that but in the end, no one stepped up to do the work.

#1970 Re: Off-topic » What other distro are you using (besides devuan)? » 2019-07-18 18:33:05

There is another distro?   LOLOL!

(Couldn't resist)

#1971 Re: Off-topic » Boom Times or financial apocalypse » 2019-07-16 20:40:00

That would be the second lock on this thread.  Let's see if Devuan users can get it together to stay on topic and not wander off into flights of fancy (that might be very real to them).  Anyway . . . it IS in OT.  Time will tell . . .

#1972 Re: Devuan Derivatives » Running refractasnapshot on "classical" installed systems » 2019-07-13 07:12:11

Something is definitely going on with refractasnapshot and compression/decompression.  I don't begin to understand it but here's a report of a similar failure.  fsmithred will figure it out eventually.

#1973 Re: Hardware & System Configuration » [Solved] Grub "savedefault" not working » 2019-07-13 01:05:29

I suspect the question is probably "what is different between mint and devuan".

#1974 Re: Installation » Xfce: TraditionalOK from mate-themes should be blue, but it's black » 2019-07-12 21:33:46

Are you talking about the titlebar?  You need to select TraditionalOk in the Window Manager settings in addition to choosing the theme.

Welcome!  Nice that you finally decided to take a leap and say hi.  How about sharing some of your Devuan-related work here or here.  Or perhaps applying some of your talents towards improving Devuan at the source.
