top or htop will let you investigate running processes. mate-system monitor is also useful (but pulls in quite a few gnome deps).
Most devuan mirrors do not support https. Either use http or choose one specific mirror that provides https.
OT observation . . . I don't think that there is a pkg mirror in the US
No need to reinvent the wheel. Devuan already does that. All "safe" Debian packages are available from Devuan repos using Amprolla 3 to filter packages that would break Devuan.
Debian repos are already available in Devuan repos via redirect. Debian repos should never be used directly. Did you look for krita in ascii backports? You likely have created a frankendevuan. I am not one to help you out of the hole you're in. But I imagine a reinstall might be the only way out of this or possibly an upgrade to beowulf (which isn't really ready for primetime yet).
"We are building the new neuro-anatomy of the human race. In the process we are destroying the human attention system, changing our idea of what it means to be human. The effect on our capacity for freedom and self-government is devastating, but not so bad for those who want to govern us. People are increasingly aware of the problem, but don't know what to do. In this talk, I explain how and why."
Why Freedom of Thought Requires Attention

Here at Devuan are trying to fix our small corner of this bigger problem. Title of the conference was "tl;dr". Yes, this talk is longish but well worth the time . . . imo, of course.
Beowulf has not been released yet. If you want to upgrade, just change ascii to beowulf in your sources.list after fully updating and upgrading.
Except for the few packages we need to clean up and blacklisted packages, Devuan pulls directly from Debian repos via redirect. Have no idea how others downstream from Debian do it.
In our case it's because no one has volunteered to package and maintain it. Last year I had a discussion with the Trinity folks about doing just that but in the end, no one stepped up to do the work.
There is another distro? LOLOL!
(Couldn't resist)
That would be the second lock on this thread. Let's see if Devuan users can get it together to stay on topic and not wander off into flights of fancy (that might be very real to them). Anyway . . . it IS in OT. Time will tell . . .
Something is definitely going on with refractasnapshot and compression/decompression. I don't begin to understand it but here's a report of a similar failure. fsmithred will figure it out eventually.
I suspect the question is probably "what is different between mint and devuan".
Are you talking about the titlebar? You need to select TraditionalOk in the Window Manager settings in addition to choosing the theme.
If any one has any interest in Developer, security, Linux-Image (GNU kernel) and web design customized Devuan respins, please ping me and I'll share my package lists.
Welcome! Nice that you finally decided to take a leap and say hi. How about sharing some of your Devuan-related work here or here. Or perhaps applying some of your talents towards improving Devuan at the source.
I always use direct email method to report bugs not reportbug which can do weird things.

Thanks.
I also ran this command for libpulse0 and it shows that of the apps I have installed, that simple screen recorder, mpv, mplayer, and mate-settings-daemon (among others) depend upon it. Looking at the description for libpulse0 in Synaptic it says it is PulseAudio client libraries. Why would these apps depend on libpulse0 especially since a lot of people on Linux don't use Pulseaudio? I find that disturbing, even though I don't fully know why.
It's part of a "lock-in" on the way to a one-size-fits-all OS that will be nothing like what we have known and loved. Modularity will be a thing of the past. At least they'll try to do that. Resistance is not futile. There is always a way around the mousetrap. ![]()
Anyway, i am still using FF52.9 ESR because some extensions i rely on are no more compatible with the newer versions of FF.
I was also on 52.9 ESR until a few days ago when I finally upgraded. It is a bit of a clusterf**k and several days later I'm still trying to get it back close to where it was. It's now in a somewhat acceptable state. But since I use it for very few things anymore, it's not a biggie.
You can also add VB to your sources.list:
deb http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian/ <release name> contrib non-free @bobmon . . . you might want to drop into #devuan-arm on freenode. parazyd does not frequent this forum.
I understand you can get around that dependency with apulse. Search this forum amd DNG archives for discussion. I need sleep or would do it myself.
This response from riseup:
It wont be possible to decontaminate snapd, but we are producing a debian package, and it does work.
So if you're using Devuan, their VPN isn't going to work for you.
The lemmings will do what they will. Swim upstream. The trend is not alarming. It is predictable.
Well, it was educational. The banking system is all smoke and mirrors or house of cards . . . pick your metaphor . . . Jaromil's objection iiuc is that this crypto would be tied to individuals through their FB accounts (not anonymous) so detailed profiles of very personal preferences and habits can be assembled that could be used to further commodify personal data.
