Can (dev1galaxy) user name only be changed through re-registration?

#102 Re: Off-topic » backup systems sheet comparison » 2017-06-22 17:24:22

Clonezilla works very well for my simple system backups. I also like rsync for regular file backups. That being said, I run a simple desktop install.

deb http://auto.mirror.devuan.org/merged jessie-updates main
deb http://auto.mirror.devuan.org/merged jessie-security main

#105 Re: Hardware & System Configuration » Repositories in Synaptic post fresh install » 2017-06-21 02:58:13

My sources.list looks more like this.

deb http://auto.mirror.devuan.org/merged/ jessie main contrib non-free
deb-src http://auto.mirror.devuan.org/merged/ jessie main contrib non-free

deb http://auto.mirror.devuan.org/merged/ jessie-security main
deb-src http://auto.mirror.devuan.org/merged/ jessie-security main

deb http://auto.mirror.devuan.org/merged/ jessie-updates main contrib non-free
deb-src http://auto.mirror.devuan.org/merged/ jessie-updates main contrib non-free

In synaptic, click on settings, then repositories and you can add or remove repository choices.

I,m wondering what the method is in Antix for systemd entanglement removal(?) is. They are Debian based and I,m curious how they are handling this.
This is an honest question. Anybody know the answer?

#108 Re: Off-topic » Life after Firefox » 2017-06-10 23:29:26

Just for info-  Palemoon has an extension called Adblock Latitude and when installed look for the little red shield icon in lower left corner of browser to click on and off. At the palemoon.org site under extensions. I find it useful.

#109 Re: Off-topic » Life after Firefox » 2017-06-06 20:34:05

Liking Palemoon. Will use it for now since firefox has been crashing  a lot lately and each "improvement" makes it worse imho.

Thanks for the info. I posted here (DIY) because this iso opens up so many diy possibilities. Great work to ALL involved in Devuan developement. Going to play with this live iso a lot.

@ fsmithred: I ran the live-desktop(no uefi) with default xfce desktop and installed mate desktop using synaptic. I then installed to harddrive.slick and smooth. My question is: If I had removed the default xfce desktop would the install to hdd still work? Is the icon to install using refracta-installer?
In any case-great work!

Nice work!

Got it. Not a stretch and not rocket science.np

#114 Re: Hardware & System Configuration » OpenVPN » 2017-04-27 13:01:10

If learning to use BBCode is a prerequisite to using this forum I am in the wrong place. This is not a criticism but a simple fact.

#116 Re: Other Issues » Can not login virtualbox install » 2017-04-23 20:40:00

Glad you got into the desktop. The greyed out button thing I think others have the answer for. My memory is not good but I have heard about the button thing. although I do remember Popeye. smile

f1 on login will show my mate session and it is my only desktop installation but it is purple on purple(more or less) and very hard to see.

#117 Re: Other Issues » Can not login virtualbox install » 2017-04-23 18:22:32

Just for info. The live cd user=devuan and password=devuan. The regular install cd are the user and password chosen by you.
I have installed on virtualbox without login issues and harddrive installation also.Good luck to you.

#118 Re: Other Issues » Can not login virtualbox install » 2017-04-23 15:32:50

I believe, with only default session installed, F1 will not do anything. Have you tried just user name-hit enter then password and enter for normal login? Sorry if I miss the point.

#119 Re: Devuan Derivatives » distro: "Good Life Linux" (Devuan + LXDE) 32+64bit ISOs » 2017-04-06 13:07:38

Refracta is worth trying. Devuan based and has useful tools also. You may be running into the expired certs problem as far as devuan downloads. A temporary condition I'm certain.

I,m probably the last to notice, but if you select packages in distrowatch you can get a side by side comparison of packages in your chosen selections of two distros. I compared Debian stable and Devuan Jessie (of course)interesting. Been following distrowatch for ages but was unaware of this option. So, if you're inattentive like myself, check it out.

#121 Re: Installation » firmware? » 2017-01-31 21:09:15

Thanks Golinux. I,m sure the devs are busy with many many things. Since I have Devuan already, working perfectly, I can afford to be patient.

#122 Re: Installation » firmware? » 2017-01-31 17:07:24

I have no experience  as to "tagging". For the RC or anything else. How to tag?

#123 Re: DIY » browser security DIY » 2016-12-13 15:47:31

Thank you for the quick response.

Nice.  I used pluma (mate) as "other editor" and it appears all is good. The menu is nice especially for the less used apps I don't wish to have as panel icons but are readily available in FireMenu. Thanks.

#124 Re: DIY » browser security DIY » 2016-12-13 13:50:14

@ fsmithred, I don't see yad (or gtk+) in devuan stable repos. Can you suggest a place to get deb files that will work for devuan stable? I ran into this before with refracta snapshot gui.
