Thanks for the report and marking this as solved.

Modern man lacks communication.

There is a lot of noise but little communication.

We do not delete accounts. If you no longer wish to participate that is your choice. If you want to make sure that you won't ever be able to again if temptation arises, just scramble your password.

Ralph yes I'll strive for the three Ps, while your lunatic fringe, right wing crony gets free reign ...

At Devuan we value contributions to a common cause of which zero has come from you. The dev1galaxy.org (almost) No Code of Conduct states:

4. We accept everyone's contributions, we don't care if you're liberal or conservative, black or white, straight or gay, or anything in between! In fact, we won't bring it up or ask (nor should you).

All views are deluded and we will live in disharmony and conflict until we can move beyond them. Gandhi got it right. Stupid humans attached to their views never will. That is the source of all suffering in the world . . .

#906 Re: Off-topic » Idle chatter nonsense » 2023-02-06 22:20:26

@blackhole . . .

MiyoLinux is responsible for one of Devuan's most popular derivatives. If you knew anything at all about Devuan you would know that . . .

https://dev1galaxy.org/viewtopic.php?id=9
https://sourceforge.net/projects/miyolinux/

IOW MiyoLinux might be going through something so acting out but on his worst day he has more value to Devuan than the paltry commentaries made by an occasional visitor. So yeah . . . I cut him some slack . . .

Doesn't unity look similar to Gnome 3?

I have no idea what gnome looks like. I abandoned that ship with the arrival of gnome3. The desktop image provided on the link has all the subtlety of Fisher-Price on steroids and caters to the ADD generation. I don't know how anyone could do serious work in that environment. Gives me a headache . . .

Devuan is not soliciting additional desktops and I am not sure it would even be offcially included unless it gets passed down to us from Debian.

#908 Re: Off-topic » What are you reading/want to read ? » 2023-02-04 18:43:16

@HoaS . . . Maybe give this one a spin. There is a red "Free Download" button. All the contributors are/were known to me and I even got a mention at the end of the Preface for my contribution . . .

Please stop this nonsense, it has totally derailed this topic.

You are free to port Unity to Devuan and offer it to the community.

^^^ This.
In addition . . . minimalism rules here. There is no one-size-fits-all solution to subscribing to threads. That is left to the user.

@MiyoLinux . . . There was some shuffling of infra to rebalance the load recently and sometimes things just go pear-shaped.  big_smile

Sapphire theme is done smile I don't know if Devuan has a particular emphasis on LXQt or not, but hopefully people get some use and enjoyment out of these.

Quite a few Devuan users have LXDE or LXQt installed so your themes will definitely be appreciated. Maybe you'd want to open an account on our git and add them there?

Azuma Hazuki wrote:

I really like both Devuan and LXQt as projects, but due to complete lack of coding skill this is the only way I can contribute anything...

Ditto. big_smile I am pretty good at playing with colors, editing/writing and keeping track of Devuan's history etc. I also took care of the websites for many releases but have now passed that task on to someone else.  I will do the wallpaper for Excalibur but no more theming beyond that. Perhaps you'd want to take some of that on for XFCE? Please contact me on irc or by email if you have an interest in that.

@aluma . . . Yes, please stop posting images of text. Instead, copy/paste the terminal output into the message box and then use the "code" tag in the list above this input window. Thanks.

#917 Re: Devuan » Meet the Daedalus sapphire theme » 2023-01-31 05:34:58

Greetings Azuma Hazuki!

I have been following your LXQt thread with great interest. Thank you for porting the themes to a WM environment!

No need to pull down anything from daedalus to get the themes. All of the raw files and documentation for all the themes are collected in our git store

The base colors of chimaera and daedalus are extremely different. The deepsea theme of chimaera is greenish and murky. This was my inspiration. The sapphire theme of daedalus evokes the brilliant colors of the sun drenched seas surrounding the Greek Islands where Daedalus was born.

That being said, the 2 themes share a light blue element so I recycled the icons and images from the Clearlooks-Phenix-Deepsea and the gnome desktop icons. All the other elements and icons share there respective signature colors.  It works well on the desktop but a WM might not use the features that focus on the primary theme color but rather just the shared elements.

#925 Re: Hardware & System Configuration » git netfilter compile problem » 2023-01-26 01:57:11

@dcolburn . . . I think your expectations may be a bit unrealistic. You have been asking questions now for some time and had responses from knowledgeable users yet you haven't been able to get things working. Seems that somehow things are getting "lost in translation". Perhaps you could find a local Linux user to help you with hands on your machine. There used to be local Linux User Groups (LUGs) for that kind of interaction though I don't know quite how you would go about connecting with someone in 2023. Just a thought . . .
