Congratulations!
FWIW I use labels and UUID in fstab . . .
. . . anyway, isn't Devuan a rolling release?
No! At least as to what I understand a rolling release to be. It is a "stable" release. "testing"is a rolling release until it becomes the next "stable" release. See:
I don't know how or why it went down that way in arch (and don't really care). But I do know how and why it went down in Debian. Re-posting these links for those who have missed them. Pehaps they will answer some of your questions:

How low have we fallen to be discussing a reddit thread here . . . seriously . . . worst place ever for accurate information . . .
I used it to get root privileges in thunar to change fstab entries to UUIDs etc. back in jessie days. Isn't that what you asked for? However, it probably doesn't work anymore. There are likely new ways of doing it today. I never mess with that stuff after it's set up so can't remember specifics . . .
Did you consult any instructions before launching into the install? I had wine installed on jessie but my system was 32 bit so much easier. I have not installed wine on 64 bit chimaera for reasons like you are describing but have discussed the process with those more in the know than I am. The takeaway for me was that wine requires 32 bit libraries alongside the 64 bit libraries and everything has to be done in a particular order. Some finger crossing is also probably a good idea . . . ![]()
It used to be easy with gksu thunar but gksu was removed/deprecated years ago. Search and there might be current alternatives.
sgage . . . having a bad day?
@alexkemp . . . finally got around to putting some of the "Powered-by" icons in git:

Thanks again!
Well then you can ignore the link I just added above. If you are used to gnome, carry on. Hope you can get things working and sorry for the noise . . .
golinux wrote:What desktop did you install? FF should be installed by default.
When installing the system, instead of Xfce, I chose to install Gnome.
Why? I never could figure out the gnome3 desktop. That's when I stopped using it a very long time ago. So sorry, can't help except to mention the Mate desktop which uses gnome2.
I will drop here a link from over 10 years ago for your reading pleasure

GNOME (et al): Rotting In Threes
Did I misread something again . . . sigh . . .
This is what confused me because I have no idea what that means:
I tried to install through the Chromium terminal . . .
What desktop did you install? FF should be installed by default.
Installation of packages is handled by apt either via the command line or the synaptic package manager. Have you read this page?

Please enlighten me. Thanks!
The intentions are to spread and propagate Devuan, the name occurred to me while watching a movie about wolves... just like that.
Did the AI write that non-answer also? LOL! I surrender . . .
Welcome to Devuan! While I appreciate your contribution, I am puzzled by the title. It is an option in Thunar also.
Well . . . your English is better than my Ukrainian and we can understand what you are trying to say. Thing is that if information related to your installation is misspelled, our search engine won't be able to find solutions to any problems you might solve. Just a bit more attention would be really appreciated. Thanks. ![]()
I don't remember seeing firmware-misc-nonfree before.
According to https://www.devuan.org/os/packages you should have these in your sources.list:
non-free-firmware, non-free and contrib
I'm probably missing something . . . sorry for the noise.
@deepforest . . . There is no "Deadalus" at Devuan (or anyplace else afaik).
PLEASE stop posting erroneous technical information on this forum and correct your previous spelling errors that might confuse other users. I am tired of cleaning up your mess.
Then . . . learn how to spell DAEDALUS correctly so our search engine will find the actual Devuan distribution to which you are referring.
Thanks for helping to make this forum a more accurate resource for other users.
The-Amnesiac-Philosopher is not so amnesiac, it seems. LOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for doing that! Why didn't you put them in Devuan's git? Pulling out the two I prefer and adding them to the git art section is still on my list . . . ![]()
@neilgunton . . . My comment was related to execution rather than content as it was rather structured analysis that didn't get sidetracked. zapper can often be whimsical and a bit silly too. He is like family.
As to your question . . . This forum does have a search function. ![]()
You might also want to look at The dev1galaxy.org (almost) No Code of Conduct.
I have never even seen debian or devuan say this LOL.
First sentence of the third paragraph on:
https://www.devuan.org/os/documentation … o-daedalus
Note that skipping releases is not supported.
Although, its probable I just didn't do enough research.
You think?
@zapper . . . that has to be one of your best posts ever!
Oh well . . . maybe someone else will wake up to the idea of becoming part of the solution . . .
