#726 Re: Installation » [SOLVED] Nvidia and Chimaera - driver 535? » 2023-09-10 19:28:09

Good that you got it solved. However an note . . .

If "Chimaera" was any part of the setup and you typed "Chimeara" as you did in your initial post, perhaps that was partly at fault?

I am going to edit that post to prevent further confusion . . .

ruenoak . . . jaromil thinks he knows what the issue is and is supposedly working on it.  He'll post here when it is fixed.

Chose the Colloroid theme. The question is how to install it instead of the standard one?

You can either put it into /home/[youuser].themes/ or in /usr/share/themes. You will need to put it into /usr to have the theme work on synaptic etc.

No! At least as to what I understand a rolling release to be. It is a "stable" release. "testing"is a rolling release until it becomes the next "stable" release. See:

I don't know how or why it went down that way in arch (and don't really care). But I do know how and why it went down in Debian. Re-posting these links for those who have missed them. Pehaps they will answer some of your questions:

#735 Re: Desktop and Multimedia » [SOLVED] manually mount disks always have different mount points? » 2023-08-29 01:37:42

I used it to get root privileges in thunar to change fstab entries to UUIDs etc. back in jessie days. Isn't that what you asked for? However, it probably doesn't work anymore. There are likely new ways of doing it today.  I never mess with that stuff after it's set up so can't remember specifics . . .

#736 Re: Installation » Trying to install wine32 results in deleting all gnome and xfce » 2023-08-29 00:46:06

Did you consult any instructions before launching into the install? I had wine installed on jessie but my system was 32 bit so much easier. I have not installed wine on 64 bit chimaera for reasons like you are describing but have discussed the process with those more in the know than I am.  The takeaway for me was that wine requires 32 bit libraries alongside the 64 bit libraries and everything has to be done in a particular order. Some finger crossing is also probably a good idea . . . big_smile

#737 Re: Desktop and Multimedia » [SOLVED] manually mount disks always have different mount points? » 2023-08-28 23:24:14

It used to be easy with gksu thunar but gksu was removed/deprecated years ago. Search and there might be current alternatives.

What desktop did you install? FF should be installed by default.

When installing the system, instead of Xfce, I chose to install Gnome.

Why? I never could figure out the gnome3 desktop. That's when I stopped using it a very long time ago. So sorry, can't help except to mention the Mate desktop which uses gnome2.

I will drop here a link from over 10 years ago for your reading pleasure big_smile:

Installation of packages is handled by apt either via the command line or the synaptic package manager. Have you read this page?

The intentions are to spread and propagate Devuan, the name occurred to me while watching a movie about wolves... just like that.

Well . . . your English is better than my Ukrainian and we can understand what you are trying to say. Thing is that if information related to your installation is misspelled, our search engine won't be able to find solutions to any problems you might solve. Just a bit more attention would be really appreciated. Thanks. smile

I don't remember seeing firmware-misc-nonfree before.

According to https://www.devuan.org/os/packages you should have these in your sources.list:
non-free-firmware, non-free and contrib

I'm probably missing something . . . sorry for the noise.

#749 Re: Desktop and Multimedia » Devuan Ceres - X not starting at kernel 6.4 + 340.108 driver » 2023-08-25 19:17:17

@deepforest . . . There is no "Deadalus" at Devuan (or anyplace else afaik).

PLEASE stop posting erroneous technical information on this forum and correct your previous spelling errors that might confuse other users. I am tired of cleaning up your mess.

Then . . . learn how to spell DAEDALUS correctly so our search engine will find the actual Devuan distribution to which you are referring.

Thanks for helping to make this forum a more accurate resource for other users.
