How many ears does Spock have?
Three. The left ear, the right ear, and the final front ear.
I suspect the best way to deal with procrastination is to put off the procrastination itself until later. I've been meaning to try this, but haven't gotten around to it yet.
What kind of key opens a banana?
A monkey.
When programming, don't write spaghetti code unless you can eat the consequences. 😉
I told my friend I was going to make a bike out of spaghetti. You should have seen her face when I rode straight pasta.
Maybe, but I find that garlic jokes do have a certain apeel. :-P
Two windmills are standing in a wind farm. One asks, “What’s your favorite kind of music?” The other says, “I’m a big metal fan.”
Well, after all, life is complex: it consists of real and imaginary parts!

Seen on the license plate of a Volkswagen Beetle: FEATURE.
🤣
Unfortunately in cases like these the best way is probably to find out which actual terminal it is (e.g. use `namei` or equivalent to find where x-terminal-emulator actually resolves to), then have a table of known terminals to option names to map the option correctly.
A hassle, of course. But ultimately solvable.
ASCII stupid question, getty stupid ANSI.
What's worse than finding a worm in your apple? Half a worm.
The Devuan servers, from what I understand, only host a small number of forked packages. The rest of the packages are supplied via a HTTP redirect to the upstream Debian servers. So any updates to non-forked packages would be available at the same time as they become available on the Debian servers.
People tell me I'm skeptical, but I don't believe it!
People say I'm ignorant, but I don't know about that!
People say I'm paranoid, but they're just out to get me!
Which is worse: ignorance or apathy?
Who knows? Who cares!

Give a man a fish, and he will eat once. Teach a man to fish, and he will sit forever.
I think there's some misunderstanding here. If all you care about is the ability to run your application on Wayland, it does have an XWayland layer that, for the most part, will continue to function as if it's X11. It mostly works, except for some functions that are fundamentally incompatible with Wayland, such as screen capturing or locking. As long as your application doesn't depend on these incompatible functions, it will in all likelihood work in Wayland.
This is aside from the more philosophical issue of whether Wayland is a good solution or not, which is a question of a different nature.
In any case, study gravitation; it's a field with lots of potential. 😂
Maybe the whole universe sucks, but since things fall back to the earth, the earth sucks more! 😉
A year or two ago firefox (from the Debian repo, so by extension in Devuan as well) indeed failed to play audio without pulseaudio. Or rather, it did so erratically, sometimes it would work, sometimes it wouldn't. Googling online turned up discussions about no longer supporting ALSA. But recently this problem has gone away. I don't know if it's because they got enough backlash that they reconsidered this decision, or something else changed, but now firefox audio works fine without PA running.
The fact the Devuan exists gives hope that there are some who are willing to stand up against the manipulations of Big Tech. Even though this is outside the scope of Devuan proper, there must be some who would be willing to stand up and fight against the trend and either keep X11 alive, or replace it with something better.
Given that there's quite a lot of unhappiness with Wayland (see for example the link to XScreenSaver's page that I posted earlier), the demand is certainly there. All it takes now is for some to fill that need.
Which versions of xorg-* packages do you have? And which version(s) of nvidia drivers are you using (if any)?
From cursory look it appears to be an ABI incompatibility issue caused by using packages of incompatible versions. But I could be wrong.
