happy holidays everybody!

Indeed! Winter solstice is happening right now. Will make it to US tomorrow morning. Rejoice that at least some things in the universe are predictable . . .

@moulder61 . . . You can thank fsmithred for the refracta tools! IIRC, he took over that project from someone on the Debian forum long before systemd was a thing . . .

#329 Re: Documentation » How to: Devuan 5 Daedalus an pipewire » 2024-12-15 17:50:52

@Altoid . . . You are definitely the grand-master of much ado about nothing and the point of your latest effort completely escapes me.  Plonk . . .

#330 Re: Documentation » How to: Devuan 5 Daedalus an pipewire » 2024-12-15 15:34:28

Add me to that list! But then I don't use that function often and hardware is generic.

#332 Re: Other Issues » [SOLVED] Question about grub background on liveCD/DVD/USB menu » 2024-12-11 00:05:56

@greenjeans . . . I used to know the answer to that question but now it is lost in time. Sadly, it could take days for that information to re-surface.

EDIT: The fog is kind of lifting . . . Poke /usr/share/desktop-base/grub-themes/

#333 Re: Devuan » Devuan LXQt themes (again) » 2024-12-08 21:11:23

The answer to your kind offer is a bit complicated . . .

About a year ago I put together a wallpaper mock-up for the excalibur color palette titled "deathmetal"* with which you seem to be familiar. Problem is that at 82, I don't have it in me to do another full theme as there are just too many moving parts with possible changes in gtk3 etc to deal with. I am also still on chimaera where life is comfortable and predictable.

Sooooo . . . I put out a call for someone to take over a while ago. A few poked at it but no one stepped up to take it on.

We discussed what to do and decided to just keep the Daedalus theme for Excalibur as we have more important tasks needing attention.

That being said . . . if anyone has an interest to take on the task, please do get in touch.

* deathmetal is a visual commentary across centuries on the darkness of war with a touch of gangrene and/or the matrix. Note that it needs to be viewed full-screen as any brightness kills the subtle palette.

Just now investigating these themes and would like to thank Azuma Hazuki for creating them. Well done! They should make some lxqt users very happy. big_smile

#335 Re: Hardware & System Configuration » Swapon bash:command not found ? » 2024-12-03 22:43:45

Nothing lasts for long these days . . . except for human stupidity.  You can always count on that especially from those on top of the food chain. It seems that stability is not very profitable . . .

That's what happens when you play Rip Van Winkle for so long . . .  wink

There is still documentation on the refracta website:

Have no idea how current it is . . .

@recklessswing . . . Surely that is sarcasm and not a serious question . . .

LOL!  Nice dig but no cigar on several counts. Go back to bed. Get out of the other side and try again, grumpus. It's a bit sad that after so many years you know so little about us.

#340 Re: Installation » Devuan 5 not Booting on 2005 Toshiba Tecra A7 Intel Centrino Duo » 2024-12-01 01:53:32

"[" quote=name of user you are quoting "]" text to be quoted " [" /quote "]"

All the extra " and spaces are to make the structure viewable when posting. Maybe there is a better way to do that . . .

The "world" is in our minds which have always been captured by those with an agenda due to our own stupidity. But this venue is not the place to go down that rabbit hole . . . wink

@trinidad . . . it is a light that those poets are mentioned by someone on this forum. Thank you!

@greenjeans . . . Sorry that I am so old and slow.  LOL!

https://dev1galaxy.org/viewtopic.php?id=766 now points to the  new thread at the top of the first and last pages of the thread.

https://dev1galaxy.org/viewtopic.php?id=766

Did I get it right? If yes, that thread should probably be closed.

So happy to have you back and doing your thing!! big_smile

Not at all, geenjeans . . . and if you give me some appropriate text pointing to the new thread, I will add it to the top of your old post with my superpowers. big_smile
