OK, so both ssd's are 100mb fat32 boot, esp, zero space before it, the rest of the 400GB following.
Next step is to open the Devuan Installer use that to set the rest of both SSD's as Raid1?
Or, is there a separate app to set up Raid1?
OK, so I'm in gparted, I've chosen GPT partition type, 100M as the partition size, and now it's asking for a format type.
Options allowed are exfat, ext2, ext3, ext4, fat16, fat32, linux-swap, lvm2 pv, minix, ntfs, cleared, unformatted.
I double-clicked the Installer on the desktop of a USB live Devuan. It immediately opened two windows, one a Terminal window that said to not close it, the other with the previously posted error message - and that window is labeled "Refracta UEFI/BIOS Installer (Yad) 9.6.1 (20210828)"
EDIT: I'm using
devuan_chimaera_4.0.2_amd64_desktop-live.iso
The Devuan Installer errored "There is no disk with a gpt partition table. You should exit this script and run gdisk to create one for uefi boot. There is no EFI partition. You will need to create one or else install the system without a bootloader."
I just guessed that all of that meant I needed to format the disks.
Can you translate for me, please?
Thanks
Didn't Hyperbola morph into Parabola. Or was it the other way around? This thought just from a vague memory . . .
Looks like Parabola is an Arch-fork.
https://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=parabola
I think Hyperbola was similar, perhaps parallel.
This new thing is supposed to be a complete switch to BSD from Linux.
My thought was that BSD is somewhat unfamiliar to would-be hackers and might reduce the number of potential troublemakers for a server.
Back to Devuan Raid 1 Install Steps ...
Step 1 - Use gparted to format the two SSD drives as ext4?
Are there any other settings at Step 1 - to help the rest of the install go more smoothly, please?

Sorry, you don't have enough rights to continue."
And, why is there no mention of Hyperbola-BSD on their Information or FAQ pages?
It's very weird ...
Maybe @zapper can clarify?
EDIT
It seems that Hyperbola-BSD may have become vaporware.
In any case it would seem, based on the difficulty in location anything recent, that support would be nearly non-existent.
Back to my other thread about a Devuan Raid1 install ...
Hence why I usually don't use devuan and instead use Hyperbola which finally removed all this crud,
Actually, xorg and wayland while both being bad, have an alternative, its called xenocara.
I cannot find Hyperbola-BSD anywhere.
I do find Hyperbola-Linux.
Did the BSD version get canceled and they stayed with the Linux kernel after all?
Can I edit the sources.list while live booted from USB?
Or, do I need to just go ahead and attempt the Raid 1 install to the SSD's then try to address the nic card driver problem - if it takes and I can reboot from the SSD install?
Thanks
Yes, Chimaera.
I haven't tried anything other than needing a work-around to download due to some unidentified certificate error, then - after bring up the live boot from USB - discovering that the LAN connection is unstable (probably due to a missing driver).
How would I try the backports kernel and can you explain how that might help, please?
Does it have drivers not included in the Chimaera iso?
Thanks
Thanks ...
Can I install that without a. Breaking anything, b. Needing to remember to update the associated dependencies any time there's a Devuan update?
Is there a driver for the Intel I219-LM?
The LAN connection cycles on and off.
Computer is a Dell OptiPlex 7050 SFF.
Thanks
Certificate Manager, under Your Certificates, is empty.
Under "Authorities" is a long list.
A few of them are dated (2001, 2008, 2020, etc) but most are not.
Clock is correct.
Headed to bed but will check back here in the morning.
Thanks for looking at this.
OK, cool ... if I've used this before it's been years ...
paste.debian.net/1259462
Any special settings I should select there?
Does it need to have the same Member name as here - for you to identify it?
depth=2 C = US, O = Internet Security Research Group, CN = ISRG Root X1
verify return:1
depth=1 C = US, O = Let's Encrypt, CN = R3
verify return:1
depth=0 CN = www.devuan.org
verify return:1
DONE
pastebin.debian.org doesn't work either.
Is that URL "http" or "https"?
I'm using the Ghostery Dawn browser. In Settings I found this
Certificates
Query OCSP responder servers to confirm the current validity of certificates
Well ... Devuan is having the same problem as VOID - the wired connection cycles up and down.
I don't see an app in the menu to look at the hardware devices, so I just used "lspci".
I'm told that the probable reason for the instability is that the Intel I219-LM isn't recognized.
Any suggested solution, please? (I'm guessing I need a stable wired connection for the server-purposed install.)
Devuan also failed to recognize the USB nic (MX Linux handles it, VOID did not).
Need to sleep so will look here in the morning.
NOTE: I started a new thread for the LAN problem and the Intel I219-LM.
OK, well, rather than fight with the button ... the other synapse fired and I realized that I could just go directly to the mirrors ... duh.
I'll burn "devuan_chimaera_4.0.2_amd64_desktop-live.iso" to a USB stick, make sure Devuan can see the Dell OptiPlex 7050 hardware (VOID could not) - then proceed to the install.
I'll probably be back here ... tomorrow ... with more questions.
Thanks for your patience!
I added the "/" because without it the Download link doesn't work at all - it just twitches the display then returns to the same page.
I'm using the Ghostery Dawn (Firefox shell, I believe) browser.
There's no indication of a pop-up block or anything.
https://www.devuan.org/get-devuan/
I can send you a screen shot ...
Any idea why the Download link isn't working, please?
I'm getting a "You've gone where no one has gone before" error.
