I will add here for the record that fsmithred's firemenu is a simple text dialog option to firejail that uses yad iirc.

Welcome to Devuan.  Would be interesting to see what LinuxBBQ can come up with!

I just checked and I don't have linux-headers-generic available in jessie or ASCII.  There are plenty of linux-headers-* for various kernels and pae etc.  Maybe you need linux-headers-common?

#2633 Re: Forum Feedback » The sound of one hand clapping » 2018-05-15 17:32:41

@figdev . . . Back in 2016-11-24, I posted this thread - https://dev1galaxy.org/viewtopic.php?id=98 - to give users an opportunity to investigate and comment on figos.  Question . . . if no one walks through an open door, does anyone get to the other side?  If there had been ANY response we would likely not be where we are today.   It seems the only one interested in promoting your derivative is YOU.  But now you can blame users of this forum for treating you unfairly too.

@figdev . . . if you keep picking a scab, it will never heal.

@KatolaZ . . . a looong story . . .

#2635 Re: Devuan Derivatives » Any Devuan-based distros that use Debian's original installer? » 2018-05-15 02:54:03

I think maybe without non-free and contrib options + a truly libre kernel

Yeah.  That's what I meant.

heres a screencap of the default desktop environment in crunkbong (i added leafpad)

Thanks.  But I was wanting to see the first boot default without "personalization".  Oh well, my fault for not being clear about it . . .

#2637 Re: Devuan Derivatives » crunkbong is looking for testers » 2018-05-14 20:19:31

Since I am not much of a tester, would be really nice to have a DE capture of crunkbong in action.   Hope one pops up soon.  smile

Sorry if this sounds silly, but please consider that /etc/bash_completion is *not* included by default in your bashrc/profile. So in order for the completions to work you have to explicitly source /etc/bash_completion in your bashrc/profile.

My2Cents

I have never touched my bash profile and bash_completion has always worked.  Maybe that's an Xfce thing?

Stop lying and spreading alternate facts.

Feel free to move on and foul someone else's nest . . .

No one here has ever been banned.   Less than 5 have earned short suspensions (two weeks or less).    This misguided/misinformed aggression is not a good way to re-enter this forum.

AntoFox maintains Mate for Devuan.  He posted this last month.

#2647 Re: Devuan Derivatives » [SOLVED] [Miyo] Power Manager is missing in my setup » 2018-05-14 00:05:11

That means it's not installed.  I have mate-power-manager-common available in jessie.  Should be the same in ASCII.

Migration was fairly painless, however, I did encounter two minor issues using https://git.devuan.org/dev1fanboy/Upgra … o-ascii.md that may be useful to others:

1.  Getting the devuan keyring require an apt update --allow-unauthenticated first

That issue is clearly addressed on this page:
https://devuan.org/os/documentation/dev … e-to-ascii

14158 wrote:

2.  Somewhere in the process of removing network manager and upgrading the network interfaces were renamed, so I had to update Wicd to the new network interface names.

That is intentional.  Devuan reverts the new network interface names and uses eth0 as default.

Thanks for the report and kind words for the darkpurpy theme.  Welcome to Devuan!

#2649 Re: Other Issues » Several bash completions unavailable » 2018-05-13 15:46:57

Does that happen on Debian also?  I assume so since we pull it directly from their repos.   Please file a bug upstream if there isn't one already.

#2650 Re: Desktop and Multimedia » Missing options in KDE System settings - Devuan ASCII » 2018-05-12 22:35:43

Do you have kde-icons-* installed and selected (if that's necessary in KDE)?  And maybe the hicolor-icon-theme?  Not quite sure what's KDE needs.  Search for "icons" in synaptic and see what pops up.
