Thanks, I will try adding into /etc/apt, though I am not sure about mixing different releases. My backup is to modify ~/.config/openbox/menu.xml . I must be alone in using Openbox as my DE.
nope, you're not alone: I use Openbox for many years now and I love it

thanks for resurrecting it
I have kidos who want to play with that and I think I can rerfurbish a laptop to experiment
I know this is an old thread. Apologies for resurrecting it.
Does this still work with the latest release of Devuan? I don't use Steam, but have a friend who does and he is sick of dealing with systemd. I want to recommend Devuan, but he won't bite if he can't have his Steam.
Thanks in advance.
I guess that love and hate for GNOME is something ... oouhh...kind a historic for many people around here?
Got bored of GNOME, back to sway:

#! -> A legend indeed
My regular distro was #! (Crunchbang) for many years, (before systemd existed), & on its demise I transferred to AntiX, using the Base version.

thanks for sharing your experience installing it onto a physical drive, I'll try it to
I like the LMD(evuan)E and it is devuan under the hood, so you know it will be good and stable. I need to install on metal and use it more for better testing, so I can't give better feedback, yet.
Edit: I have installed it onto a spare partition on a physical drive. The grub install worked fine and now is labeled as LMDE and not debian. It seems responsive and fast. It has been a while since I have used the Cinnamon desktop, so I may not be the best tester to provide feedback.
well...
Probably will never happen.
Here's a "fun" read: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic. … 2&t=268273
probably is happening : https://dev1galaxy.org/viewtopic.php?pid=27698#p27698
--> spoiler : is a reference to : https://all-things-linux.blogspot.com/2 … ition.html
and.. the author of the post says "Of course this being experimental it was done in Virtualbox. As you can see from the forum posts it all went as hoped for and there should be no reason why one could not perform a full install in this way."

yes, slitaz is great!
I gave slitaz a try today, i just love how they have created such a tiny distro that can do so much for old hardware. I managed to install it to a partition on an old laptop i had collecting dust and it works perfectly, even picked up the ancient wifi dongle i used with way back.
hello
I would like to add that there is a blog with video for the new release, see here:
http://archivista.ch/cms/en/news/avmult … zen-4000u/
I meant, an installation time of about 5 seconds for a total of about 8 GByte of software is not that bad, right?
is not!
your deriv is really good
thanx for the glxgears tip , I'm gonna try this with a i386 >2G ram toshiba
Hi,
...
Teeworlds is a no-gore mulitiplayer shooter. It is opensource (C++) with easy configurable skin and map files. There 50+ live servers to be found.
If you use old hardware - install glxgears to check if your graphics card it up to it.

+1
Very nice configs about everything there Ogis1975
Thaks u all of u, for your suggestions! Finally I could probate that is a hardware fail. Sound card is broken.
Solved.
hola, .. . por curiosidad.. y porque tengo una toshiba satellite "viejita" que tiene un tarjeta de sonido que también es realtek y que igualmente no suena ...
- . . .y que también es para juegos de críos !!! / yes-- to play video games all over the day!!
¿cómo sabés que está rota? ¿how do you know you sound card is broken?
he econtrado discusiones sobre necesitar un driver de realtek, que sólo funciona con kernels por debajo del 3.6 . .
a buscarle pué!!
Hi everyone!
Virage GNU/Linux, aims to offer a full-pledged desktop environment for artists and musicians out of the box, you can start your projects inmediatly after the installation.
.
hello / hola
thanks for let me know about this interesting project.. specially about the XanMod kernel
Virage 3.1 Beowulf uses the Linux XanMod 5.6.17 RT kernel to improve the system performance 25%+ over other systems and keep a responsive, smooth desktop experience even in critical runtime applications
No conocía sobre ese tipo de kernel. gracias por traerlo a la luz, en tu sitio web decís que ya hay una versión basada en Beowulf ,
do you have experience using that kernel in a 'normal' beowulf installation ? I'm courious about it..
In the above case, the problem was that PCManFM was unable to communicate with gvfs (well, sort of). PCManFM and gvfs use D-Bus, a system for interprocess communication, to communicate with each other. Now, for things like communication between the file manager and gvfs in your X session, D-Bus uses per-user instances of its message bus deamon (visually speaking, one telephone network per user for the communication between the programs this user works with). If you just start X from the command line without further configuration, that message bus deamon won't be started. Therefore, PCManFM won't be able to call gvfs and ask it to mount a device. Putting
exec dbus-launch
into your ~/.xinitrc file instructs the xinit program to start that per-user d-bus deamon for the session and so provide means of communication between PCManFM and gvfs.
thanks for this informative and to learn paragraph,
useful for me since I had problems with automount using Thunar/PcmanFM after I start login to X without lxdm
PS : I think I prefer Thunar
