[Ceres] Install mega packages

Hi, today I want to install the mega packages (about the mega.nz services).

I use the Debian 10 version, on the website, for Desktop app and the file manager integration for Thunar (or Nautilus).

But I cant install it, because needs the libraw19. (and on Ceres, we've libraw20) tongue

Certains paquets ne peuvent être installés. Ceci peut signifier

la distribution unstable, que certains paquets n'ont pas encore
été créés ou ne sont pas sortis d'Incoming.

Les paquets suivants contiennent des dépendances non satisfaites :
 megasync : Dépend: libraw19 (>= 0.16.0) mais il n'est pas installable
E: Impossible de corriger les problèmes, des paquets défectueux sont en mode « garder en l'état ».

The libraw20 is installed. Can I resolve this?

Re: [Ceres] Install mega packages

If Debian has it and it is not on Devuan's banned package list, Devuan repos will provide that package.  That's what "merged" does.

Re: [Ceres] Install mega packages

It is not advised to get packages directly from Debian.  When you download via Debian repos there is a chance that you will get caught later by updating a package with a newer version that has been banned in Devuan.  That could have "unintended consequences".  Your choice to take that risk, of course . . .

What site is not accessible?  pkginfo or deb.devuan.org?

Re: [Ceres] Install mega packages

It might be best to add the beowulf repositories and let the libraw19 package be installed from there, it will then be updated afterwards if there are any vulnerabilities found.

Adding beowulf to a ceres system shouldn't cause any problems — APT will favour the ceres packages because they have a higher version number.

And note that the Mega .deb package adds their Debian buster repositories and APT key to the system when it is installed.

I thought Linux was about freedom - freedom to do what you want and how you want - not dogmas.
For me, it is the freedom to do things that no one has done or at least told about before. Adding a single package from another distro I consider to be the least freedom you can get. There are much greater freedoms you can enjoy and learn from.

Indeed, freedom includes the right to make good and bad decisions.  To succeed or fail.  IOW it includes the right to make brilliant and/or stupid choices as well.  I suppose it can be argued whether collective knowledge from past experience of others is right or wrong or restrictive of freedom.  So yes, you have the right to stick a screwdriver into a live electrical socket. Whether that is "freedom" is debatable.

Of course, bad decisions should be avoided. You do this, of course, if you are somewhat intelligent and knowledgeable. But just following the sheep flock does not lead to development. Without individuals who made their own decisions, we would still live in  the Stone Age.

Re: [Ceres] Install mega packages

Since the Stone Age, we have certainly found more efficient ways to destroy the ecosphere and each other.  In fact, that goal has been the driving force of our species' history.  All the comfort and toys are a distraction from more important things which are (mostly) ignored.  All in all, humans make incredibly bad decisions most of the time.
