Speculation is not useful; it's a foolish pastime.  We have a lot of work to do before we can even begin to sort those issues.  It's best to just put one foot in front of the other in the present moment and we'll get there eventually.

Or Debian will come to its senses by allowing init freedom at installation and requiring packages to support all init options.

Have you read the Release Notes?  Plenty of tips in there that might help you sort this.  Those notes are for ascii.  I guessed because you didn't specify which release you were on.

I can confirm all of the above.   When in a mood HoaS can be an equal opportunity offender who "blesses" many forums with his presence.  His track record on this forum to date has actually been fairly benign compared to what has happened elsewhere.  I also know that there can be no offense if none is taken.  Let it be like water on a duck's back.  I'm all for "free speech" but if things get too disruptive, there is always the big, red "time out" button.

Hi Ozi .  .  . long time no see.  Isn't backports already pinned in ascii?  I use it so rarely, I've never checked if that's the case but that's what I've heard.
