@GlennW . . . Yes, timing is important. For about a week the dev1galaxy forum has actually presented itself as a TECHNICAL support resource for the Devuan community as it should be, instead of a relentless churning of off-topic nonsense. It has been a bit like removing a thorn from the bottom of your foot . . .

#379 Re: Off-topic » The Joke Thread » 2024-10-18 00:08:04

If you are not living in the reality of the present you are living a fantasy.  Sooner or later, when you least expect it, there will be a price to pay for the comfort of that avoidance. Sadly, humans keep repeating that cycle over and over and over . . .

This thread is overdue for a timeout . . . can we please just freeze it for a few days or more? We shouldn't be wasting devuan resources on this nonsense.

/me goes back to boycotting this useless thread . . .

Thank you for that lovely post, goat. However, playing devils advocate . . .  sometimes truth hurts and even a Zen master has a stick. wink

@quickfur . . .Yes, and I have just re-read New Devuan user here in which you received a very warm welcome.

In that post you gave some personal history regarding Debian/Devuan and your personal life. You were showered with a warm welcome and plenty of information.

You are very good with words but haven't a clue about the history and interpersonal relationships that it has taken to get Devuan to this point and makes it so special. It has been about love and joy and cooperation.

Seems you might not be a good fit with the ethos here . . .

I do hope that you can learn to deal with your anger more constructively going forward . . .

@quickfur . . . No, I am disappointed that you choose to shoot the messenger rather than engage Devuan in a meaningful way. If I have missed something, please correct me.

And who is this mythical "WE" of whom you speak? You have no git account. AFAIK have never been seen on IRC or even the mailing lists, at least as quickfur. And one of our jitsi meets? Hahahaha! What have YOU contributed to Devuan besides an endless stream of wasted bits in OT and empty rousing rhetoric to encourage someone else to do the work for you. Epic fail . . ..

WOW! You are quite an archeologist, nixer!!  So openly brazen!! How was this post not found nearly 15 years ago?

FWIW, I am also a wired user but still miss wicd.

Stupidity has been the driving force of human history. Expecting humans to behave otherwise is fantasy.

Andreas Messer is no stranger to Devuan. He often came to our weekly meets.

This link was one of the last times that we heard from him but if you poke the archives and git you will find more . . .

Thanks for the wonderful news! Would be nice to find a way to get it into the Devuan repos. Anyone up to taking that on? I'll also contact Andreas Messer as he made efforts to port it some years ago.

#400 Re: Devuan » Devuan Excalibur ISO » 2024-09-08 14:59:43

Yes. That is to create an installer iso. Be prepared for possible debugging of scripts involved to get it to work. There are currently no live testing isos because of the rate of changes necessary at this point.
