Sudden change in repositories

Just today, as I check every time I boot my system, which is daily, I got a series of errors from APT.

Skipping acquire of configured file 'non-free-firmware/dep11/icons-48x48.tar' as repository 'http://deb.devuan.org/merged daedalus-security InRelease' doesn't have the component 'non-free-firmware' (component misspelt in sources.list?)

Now, simply plugging this into Google, I got an "AI" response that I needed to edit my source.list and remove the reference to firmware. Not hard to do, but WHY was there this sudden change? Is there some technical reason? It seems like change for its own sake.

Re: Sudden change in repositories

It's not listed here for daedalus-security like it is for the other daedalus repos.
https://pkgmaster.devuan.org/merged/dis … /InRelease

Origin: Devuan
Label: Devuan-Security
Suite: oldstable-security
Version: 5.0
Codename: daedalus-security
Date: Tue, 14 Jul 2026 18:50:06 UTC
Valid-Until: Tue, 21 Jul 2026 18:15:06 UTC
Architectures: amd64 arm64 armel armhf i386 ppc64el
Components: main contrib non-free <---- missing "non-free-firmware"

I'm guessing it got left out by mistake. You didn't spell it wrong.
