There is (or was?) a long-time-bug.
I installed the latest devuan_excalibur_6.0-20250605_amd64_netinstall.iso to test it.
What a pleasure. Everything works out of the box, no tinkering - so far.
But, still, the same old bug has made it to excalibur:
I choose OpenRC as the init system, and anacron then prevents to shutdown orderly after reboots later on.
The problem was there already in Devuan 3, 4, 5....
I tested a fresh install with the InitSysV and that worked well, no anacron problem.
I usually get rid of the problem by just removing anacron.
1. Test: Excalibur, OpenRC, Cinnamon Desktop: The problem is real
2. Test: Excalibur, InitSysV, Cinnamon Desktop: No problem anymore(?!)
3. Test: Excalibur, OpenRC, GNOME Desktop: Still the problem
Since Excalibur is being readied, I wanted to ensure the old bug gets solved.
I decided to test more and then file a bug. For this I started some fresh-installs today, using the same iso,
Of course, I always include Devuan-mirrors to be up-to-date.
4. Test: Excalibur, OpenRC, XFCE Desktop: No problem anymore(?!)
5. Test: Excalibur, OpenRC, Cinnamon Desktop: No problem anymore(?!)
Bizarre, yesterday the bug was still there in the installation from yesterday.
Has something changed? I don't dare to file a bug now.
The problem has been consistently there with the last 3 releases of Devuan, always with OpenRC, sometimes Cinnamon DE, sometimes XFCE DE.
I wonder if that sounds familiar to somebody.
