Hi all Devuan gurus,
I am about installing Devuan Ceres to my brand new laptop (Thinkpad P51) and before starting the installation I'd like to have your opinions regarding a few topics:
* What is the current state of the art with Debian/Devuan regarding Nvidia Optimus support? 3 years ago it was a real nightmare
* I tested Devuan Ceres after 2 upgrades in a VM and it works well with quite fresh software excepted for docker (container engine), do you advise to use the provided version or to use the docker official repository ?
* Which power management is the best one and well integrated with Devuan? powertop ?
* What about UEFI installation with Devuan ? Should work like with a standard Debian isn't it ?
Thanks for your support
Regards
Jerome

I'll answer in reverse order of your questions.
UEFI install works with the installer isos, same as debian. For the desktop-live, there's a separate iso for uefi.
The default desktop is xfce and uses xfce4-power-manager. Mate has its own power manager, and I'm not sure what lxde uses. From what I hear, they all suck. I haven't heard of anyone using powertop, but if you try it, please let us know how it works.
I don't know about docker. Ceres and ascii have the same version as stretch, buster and sid - 1.5-1+b1 0
Nvidia driver is the same as in debian. Here are the available versions. It's also possible to install from the nvidia binary, just as in debian. See the debian wiki for instructions on the different ways to install it.
apt-cache policy nvidia-driver

I don't think you can get any better than tlp utilities, especially since you use a Thinkpad for which tlp offers additional functionality.

A stable version already is included in the repositories of Debian/Devuan.
