sources.list for bloody germans

Hi,

I had difficulties running DVD's on my system so I added:

deb http://us.deb.devuan.org/merged/ ascii main non-free contrib
deb-src http://us.deb.devuan.org/merged/ ascii main non-free contrib

deb http://us.deb.devuan.org/merged/ ascii-security main non-free contrib
deb-src http://us.deb.devuan.org/merged/ ascii-security main non-free contrib

deb http://us.deb.devuan.org/merged/ ascii-updates main non-free contrib
deb-src http://us.deb.devuan.org/merged/ ascii-updates main non-free contrib

to my sources.list (everything is fine now, DVD's are showing)

But shouldn't I use instead of us.deb.devuan.org, the german de.deb.devuan.org?

I tried that out and got a long list of errors about double entries.

Do not understand the HOW and WHY

You can drop the country code altogether. It doesn't really do anything - you just get redirected to a nearby mirror. (e.g. I'm in the US and I frequently get Italian or German mirrors. There is no US mirror.)

I'm from Germany also. I have dropped all tries to add a country code or a specific mirror. I simply use:

deb http://deb.devuan.org/merged ascii main contrib non-free
deb http://deb.devuan.org/merged ascii-security main contrib non-free
deb http://deb.devuan.org/merged ascii-updates main contrib non-free
deb http://deb.devuan.org/merged ascii-backports main contrib non-free

This works fine.

I'm +11 atm, summer time here. And I see no advantage in country codes either, just use the same as above.
