Chimaera desktop-live beta isos are available at your favorite iso mirror.
https://www.devuan.org/get-devuan
I hacked in the fixes for desktop-base (menu icons and desktop background) and also hacked in a fix for refractainstaller to remove the scary warning in the first screen. These changes will be in the next build of the packages and in the repo soon.

Is it the devuan_chimaera_4.0.beta-20210823_xxxxxx.iso's? I'm seeing an upload date of about 4 days ago - is that right or should I be waiting for mirrors to refresh?
Offline
The note above was for the desktop-live installer that you find at the path variation devuan_chimaera/desktop-live/ and then the file name pattern is devuan_chimaera_4.0.beta-2021-08-27_xxxxxx.iso.
The devuan_chimaera/installer-iso/ collection will find themselves updated into isos of the pattern devuan_chimaera_4.0.beta-20210830_xxxxxx.iso, with and for the desktop-base improvement, at some near future.

Ok thank you, I'm seeing the Desktop Live version with today's date on it now in the mirrors.

Hi
Would you like me to test the network-install beta again when it comes out later (maybe this week). Just to see if the installer problems in encrypted multiple disk installs are gone ??
Have a nice day

So, the copy of refractainstaller-yad that I hacked into the desktop-live iso was an older version that I modified. Oops. It'll still work.
Right one is here and will be in the next build.

Lars, yes if you can test it again that would be good, and if possible get a screenshot or two of the partitioning scheme. Thanks.

Hi
I will test the network installer when you ask me. I wait until you say they are ready. It will take some time to do, because I need fresh a backup first.

Hi fsmithred
I can see new network install isos are on the server. Are they relevant for testing my multiple disk encrypted install. Or should I wait a bit. :-)
And what are the changes ?? Always nice to know

Just installed 64bit live to my old HP-G62, (2GB ram/2GB swap) - also installed 32bit live to an old Toshiba Satellite Pro, (1GB ram/2GB swap), both seem to be working fine.

Hi
Tried with the new net-install images (30-08).
Same problems. Tried a normal install on three disks. One NVME setup for root without encryption, and two encrypted hdd's for home + data. All problems occurred at the partition stage
1) attempt. Trying to select existing drives for encyption and choosing mount point for root. Did not allow me to set up my encrypted drives, but went straight on wit installi ng on root. After install I could go back and reselect partitioning, set it up and succeed with encryption. But off course that was not what I wanted to test the installer
2) attempt. Did not select filesystem for root, but reuse existing partitions for setup of encryption. Could not get to setting up encrypted volumes. So over again
3) attempt succeed. When I did not select filesystem for root, but deleted the drives for encryption, repartitioned, the selected to setup encrypted drives, I got to the encryption screen. After that setting all mountpoints and remaining partioning of the root drive. All then went well:-)
Have a nice day

Hey guys I downloaded the desktop live iso 64bit but if my computer has uefi enable I cant boot into the live iso, but with mbr it does work @fsmithred any suggestions?
Offline
The desktop-live iso should boot on uefi. The minimal-live is bios only. Image a usb thumb drive using dd or cat to the whole device (not a partition). Did you use a different method or burn an optical disk?
Offline
no i used dd to put the iso on usb ie "sudo dd=devuan.iso of=/dev/sdx bs=4M && sync" and then i rebooted and then stumbled upon the issue.
Offline
There are four live isos. Which one did you use?

Actually, I had the same problem when I tried to boot from my dd'ed pendrive on my UEFI chromebook - the same pendrive has installed to 2 other MBR 64bit computers perfectly.
devuan_chimaera_4.0.beta_2021-08-27_amd64_desktop-live
Edit: Just to say that Beowulf (live desktop) installed to my chromebook before without any problems.

I used the 64bit iso in this directory:

You're right. The amd64 desktop-live beta iso doesn't boot in uefi. I'm not sure what happened, but I just made a beta2 and it works. I will upload that and make the other three isos some time in the next day or two.

beta2 amd64. This one booted in uefi for me. (hardware and qemu). I only booted bios in qemu, but I expect it works on hardware, too.

ok so I downloaded beta2 iso 64bit and it works, trying it out on bare metal. Will use it as a daily driver and i'll report back if i find any issues. I do warn you I don't dual boot with any other Oses, I also only have a uefi partition and a swap partition. Thanks fsmithred for another live iso.

another question for the devuan community, If i want to burn the beta2 iso to a dvd-r what package do I need to download and what command do i use to burn the iso to the dvd. I will like to test the iso to boot from a dvd to rule out any issue for future devuaners.

Xfburn is already installed. You'll want to select 'Burn image'.

ok thanks for the heads up fsmithred i'll give it a try and report on any issues

ok so i tried burning the iso with xfburn but ran into issues and i think it was the dvd blank so im not going to try it out anymore. burning the iso to a USB drive worked and installed fine and i have been using it for a few days but im switching to beowulf because i really want the security updates. if you need me to test out the rc releases and final, ill be here.
