please don't forget to include pvr-iptvsimple for kodi *missing*
It appears to be in ascii and ceres. Looks like that omission comes directly from debian as we have not forked that package. Have you checked backports?
Hello:
golinux wrote:... that package comes directly from Debian ...
Indeed ...
But Debian also means (in some way, methinks) systemd related.
LOL! 98% of Devuan is pure Debian. These are the Debian packages banned in Devuan.
As I always try to avoid installing anything from outside the Devuan repositories, I went to synaptic expecting to find it there, just like inxi.
I did not find it so I went looking for it at https://pkginfo.devuan.org/ and it had not been / was not there either. This called my attention, which is why I asked.
I'll install it from HH's site but maybe (?) it could be added to the stable/backport repositories in the future?
If Debian had it, we would have it. We only touch files with systemd issues. If and when Debian offers it, then we will too.
Thanks for your input.

@Altoid . . . thanks for tracking that down. I have always had great respect for HH and thank him for his contributions and making that script compatible with Devuan. You probably noticed that package comes directly from Debian - Origin: Debian.
sgfxi at https://smxi.org/ will automate everything. DISCLAIMER: I've been using onboad graphics and nouveau for years but the sgfxi script used to work wonders.
Apologies if this is the wrong section — I couldn't find a "Bugs" sub-forum and reportbug wants a package name, which doesn't seem appropriate for problems with the ISO image.
Oh, but it is!
Onefang, thanks for the excellent clarification.
Sometime I just get a bit paranoid and maybe I should switch to a https mirror.
I used to use the more specific, if still http, gb.deb.devuan.org until that was deprecated and we were recommended to use deb.devuan.org.
Maybe a disclaimer in the documentation about its load-sharing round-robin nature would help.
Documentation covering all those points is (and has been) on the website, in the installer and now also stickied here:
Index
» Documentation
» Devuan package mirrors, deb.devuan.org, HTTPS, and mirror monitoring
Considering the monied interests that "own" scientific research (perhaps the Gates Foundation is among them?), the "cure" is going to make a lot of people even richer because the "cure" will undoubtedly be patented. I'd rather let nature do its thing than participate. Note that I have never had a flu shot either.
@PRafael . . . welcome to Devuan!
dev1fanboy aka chillfan is meticulous in his documentation so I'm sure there is a reason. You could open an issue at https://git.devuan.org/devuan-doc/docum … dev1fanboy to ask him or send him an email via this forum. He hasn't been here since early March. Of course, someone else may know the answer. Just not me. ![]()
Roger . . . https://beta.devuan.org/os/install includes specific instructions for upgrade
Hi
I finally spotted but needed prompting this post
https://dev1galaxy.org/viewtopic.php?id=1925as my removal of systemd stuff is on the beta iso I thought I would share the little I know here
And I am glad that link is a sticky too.
Happy to hear everything worked out for you. ![]()
Check devuan backports. Do not install directly from Debian repos.
"Gnome Videos" is not a proper filename in Ubuntu or Debian. What might it be? If it is available in Debian we should have it in Devuan unless it is on the banned package list http://pkgmaster.devuan.org/bannedpackages.txt Have you checked https://pkginfo.devuan.org/ to see if it is there?
It seems outdated 6 years after the fact. Time to move on, perhaps by actually contributing something useful?
Just for my understanding: if one already has Ascii installed, Beowulf is now ready/stable enough to be upgraded to?
We are happy to have made you happy.
Yes, it is supported in beowulf:
Oh, I didn't know. Nice . . .
This might be a useful post:
Hey stanz . . . check out the updated derivatives page on the beta site:

- Note that firefox-esr no longer requires pulseaudio. You can easily
remove pulseaudio and just use alsa. What a f****** good news!!!
Unfortunately, Xfce now pulls it in. I think it's a recommends though so could be removed with a little work.
Just reading the guide on for how to update from ASCII to Beowulf (https://beta.devuan.org/os/documentatio … owulf.html) I note that the text seems to imply that this would work to upgrade from Jessie too.
Yes, it is possible to upgrade from Jessie! Those pages were just updated yesterday. I'll be getting that straightened out on the Install page later today. beta website is still a WIP. ![]()
Dear dev1ers,
The Devuan 3 Beowulf Beta release is now ready for review. The installer isos,
desktop-live and minimal-live isos can be downloaded from:
https://files.devuan.org/devuan_beowulf/
### What's new in Beowulf
Changes in su
- The behavior of su has changed. Use 'su -' to get root's path or use
the full path to commands if you use only 'su'. See the following for
more information:
https://www.debian.org/releases/buster/ … -variables
https://wiki.debian.org/NewInBuster
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugrepo … bug=905564
Pulseaudio
- If you have no sound, make sure the following line in
/etc/pulse/client.conf.d/00-disable-autospawn.conf is commented as
shown here:
#autospawn=no
- Note that firefox-esr no longer requires pulseaudio. You can easily
remove pulseaudio and just use alsa.
Please read the Release Notes for more detailed information:
http://files.devuan.org/devuan_beowulf/ … _notes.txt
Install, upgrade and migrate documentation for beowulf and be accessed at:
https://beta.devuan.org/os/install (still a WIP)
Please report any issues you may experience to this list, bugs.devuan.org,
freenode irc #devuan-dev or the dev1galaxy.org forum.
In solidarity,
The Devuan Devs
Thanks for the assistance.
@golinux I assumed that sources.list would be read by Synaptic. I was wrong.
You will want to update synaptic every time you want to browse or install etc. so it can find the newest packages. You also need to do that in a terminal.
@rolfie So that's the way to specify a repository when installing. And backports makes sense now in the context of packages existing in testing, but not stable.
The -t is only needed because backports has some kind of magic pinning so everything from there doesn't get installed. I comment backports in my sources list and only uncomment when I want to install something specific.
Currently it can be disabled in about:config. But since I'm still on jessie, it's not a problem for me . . . yet. Cloudflare is a very-bad-idea (tm). There is a thread about this on the DNG mail list if you're interested.
