I get this warning also, so it should not be the cause of problems.
Something I do see in your lightdm.log thats different from mine, an excerpt from my log:

I dont know, maybe they are different because you have never actually performed a login.
Do you have a symlink in /etc/alternatives/lightdm-greeter that points to /usr/share/xgreeters/lightdm-gtk-greeter.desktop?
As far as getting to a console, can you <CTRL><ALT>F2 to get to a terminal console? Then it would be <CTRL><ALT>F7 to get back to gui/lightdm.
I dont know why your particular lightdm would be having troubles, I perform similar manual installs with netinst.iso without issue. Lightdm has logs in /var/log/lightdm. Maybe try stopping the lightdm service, then starting and see if it complains about anything.

I attempted an install using mini.iso (from netboot) recently and encountered an error during the install, something about kernel mismatch. The error was serious as presented, that the resulting install may not boot. And sure enough; the installed os would not boot. i have to apologize for lack of details, as I quickly moved on and just installed the normal Devuan netinst.iso. -- Just a heads up, hopefully you wont encounter this.
What I ended up doing was installing ascii netinst.iso, keeping the install minimal- no desktop. Then immediately upon 1st boot upgrading to beowulf. This worked well and should go smooth now that the polkit/policykit issues have been resolve.
Honestly, haven't taken a serious look at anything QT, like your screenies and might have to do just that!
Used Lxde before switching to Xfce and did think Lxde was a great DE, very fast and lean. Will have to explore LxQT and see what is happening!
I had bounced back and forth between LXDE and XFCE for years, then at some point LXDE became frozen in time; so XFCE has been desktop of choice ever since. Recently, I had noticed I was having trouble interfacing with GTK based apps; mainly with scrolling. I seem to be always fighting the interface to get done what I need to do. Frustration set in, so decided to give an old friend LXDE, now LXQT at try. I find QT interface more intuitive and clean, for me at least. Give it try!

Recently switched over to LXQT. Running all Beowulf and recent LXQT 0.14 from Unstable. Very Happy with LXQT progress.

Didnt use emacs, but my particular icon setting (moka); yes- better.
Now, can you tell me how to change Synaptic scrolling to make it actually usable? I dont care for the gtk scrolling functionality of clicking on the scroll area and having the scroll advance in regards to where you click, instead of a "page". And worse in regards to Synaptic; the right-click into the scroll area doesnt scroll-page as it should, but scrolls at some ridiculously irritating slow pace; useless! I have to click into the package display and use arrow keys to scroll in Synaptic to get work done.
I have removed my pin file and upgraded the policykit and polkit packages to beowulf. I can report that initial testing all seems to be working. I can as normal user; mount and write to usb, mount and write to other partitions, and can shutdown. Will continue testing.
My package versions:
dxrobertson@acer:~$ apt list --installed | egrep "polkit|policykit"

Have you enabled non-free and contib in your sources.list?
I changed this:
deb http://pkgmaster.devuan.org/merged ascii main
to:
deb http://pkgmaster.devuan.org/merged ascii main contrib non-free
Didnt seem to work.
Not sure what you mean by "Didnt seem to work", but either press the Reload button in Synaptic or in terminal:
apt update
This will make all the packages from contrib and non-free "available"
If you have already done so, then please disregard.
When I tried xcalc, it has an ugly UI. For myself, functionality > looks, but users like to have a pretty UI. Which is why I opted for gnome-calculator
galculator is another nice calculator.
No GUI user management.
Maybe try lxqt-admin, if you havent already found your solution.
A note on installing software outside of your chosen desktop (XFCE, LXQT, GNOME, KDE...); its best to first try the install from commandline with the --no-install-recommends option to limit the install to just the desired package (and its hard dependencies):
apt-get --no-install-recommends install <package-whatever>
And also- welcome to devuan!
I have always been able to atleast disable pulseaudio, and use basic alsa and sound play and record work fine.
What I normally do to disable pulse:
edit /etc/pulse/client.conf:
set autospawn = no
remove any <home>/.config/pulse that exists
Not sure about KDE, but there is probably an entry for pulse to auto startup (somewhere in session?); disable this.
reboot.
Hopefully now running without pulse.
Play some sound.
Enter alsamixer in a terminal and use this as your mixer. You may have to press F6 and set your sound card to the "actual" sound card instead of "default". Other things to do in alsamixer are to set the volume levels. Make sure no "MM" at the bottom, thats mute; hit M to unmute.
To remove pulse; you can open a terminal and enter apt-get -s purge pulseaudio and see what it screams about. If it wants to remove important packages, then you may not be able to remove it; not sure about KDE. My personal experience with XFCE and LXQT is that the dependency on pulseaudio is at the meta-package, as well as "some" of the real software packages installed by the meta; thus pulseaudio can be removed, as long as you arent using a particular package that depends on it. I do not have pulse installed and can happily use mpv, for example.
Also, if you use Firefox; it depends on pulseaudio.
NEVER MIND.
After digging a little deeper, it turns out the needed firmware is already available in the install /lib/firmware. And proceeding further into the network config, I was able to get wireless configed and connected .
Sorry about that.
I am trying to install Devuan from the Net Install but need to use non-free wireless firmware. No access to ethernet. I have the Debian driver .deb file (firmware-atheros_20161130-4_all.deb) as well as the individual firmware files extracted, stored on a usb drive. I am installing Devuan from a usb drive (and have this second usb drive containing my firmware).
The install runs fine until it gets to the point where it asks if you want to install drivers from a cd, or whatever. I say yes, my firmware usb drive is inserted, and the installer returns and says it cant find the drivers.
I can pick the option near the end of the install list to drop to a shell. I can fdisk -l and see my usb is recognized. I can even mount the usb and see my driver firmware files.
How do I "tell" the install process where my firmware files are, within the usb drive? What is the installer looking for, a .deb file? I could try and manually copy the firmware from my usb to their appropriate directory in /lib/firmware within the shell, then I suppose I would have to do a modprobe? would this work?
Note that during the network configuration stage of the install my wireless is not recognized thus the reason I need to install my firmware to complete the net install.
To run volumeicon, simply enter it into terminal. To have it autostart on xfce panel, add volumeicon as the excutable to Settings>Session and Startup>Application Autostart.
Pulseaudio does indeed get pulled in by the xfce package. I manually install xfce via the xfce package along with several other xfce packages I desire. I do not use pulse on 1 of my pcs, but I dont remember if I removed or disabled it; unfortunately I do not have access to that pc at the moment.
On the pc I am currently using, installed xfce the same way; I can pull up synaptic and do a remove of the pulseaudio package and it doesnt try to remove anything else, just pulseaudio. But, if I try to remove the libpulse0 package, then several dependencies are flagged for removal; including xfce and much more. So it seems the libpulse0 is whats really dependent.
If you decide to remove/disable pulse, a nice xfce panel volume control is volumeicon-alsa.
There also exists an extended version of Do They Know It's Christmas. Sadly, more points out the reason for the concert.
Traditional western "christmas" here, but probably more of yule or yuletide for us. Enjoy the yule "winterness" of the time of year; solstice, a small 8 inch fake fir tree, some lights, stockings hung, couple gifts exchanged, a Quorn Roast feast along with some beers and wine. Watch A Christmas Story. Done, time to bed!
