Been searching and could only find this article (based on Ubuntu - yes I know!):

When I do a 'nano' of X11.conf it states I am creating a new file. Having looked in /etc I can see quite a lot of different things so not sure where to go from here.
The reason behind installing a second 1030 graphics card was to dedicate one to Virtual Machine Manager for improved Graphics, but when not being used would like to use it for second monitor. Prior to second graphics had the one 1030 with VGA to primary and HDMI to secondary (right screen).
Thanks.
I've had some issues with Jitsi in terms of sound and finally had to install the Pulse package for ALSA to get it working (sound) whilst in a Jitsi meeting. I don't use VLC any more. The only media players on the system are: mpv media player, SM Player, Dragon Player, Videos. Appears I have Pulse Audio Volume Control but I think I had to install it too regarding the Jitsi issue.
Hi, I was helping out on a local City forum where someone was having issues in another OS with a video. I did a search for Light Browsers and Midori came top of the list. I have used this in the past on other distributions of GNU/Linux but not had brilliant performance. When I installed from apper the machine froze. So I downloaded the one from the official website which indicates version 1.1.4 - no issues. My only issue now is that the Updater is pointing to the one in the repos, 7.2 which has a freeze bug. No such issues in 1.1.4 from the Official Midori site. I am continually getting reminders to update this and can't remember the syntax for blocking this so it doesn't keep coming up. For the tine being I am just unchecking it in Apper when other updates come through. Thanks.
I've had an issue with Aqemu in that I am not doing something correct i.e., thinking I had created an installed 'drive' when it starts in live mode again (image). However I found VirtManager (Virtual Machine Manager to give it it's full title) great at importing my VB .vhd into quemu using the qcow2 converter. It is so much nicer not to have to press the right Ctrl key to free the mouse back to the desktop - the mouse can easily move from a VM to the desktop. (I do have 2 monitors I hasten to add!)
Go to System Settings > Notifications > Applications: Configure > Plasma Workspace > Configure Events > Login.

For me I am currently using login and logout sounds from Ultimate Edition Oz B-II edition which you can download from here:

I just wish there was a way (possibly a script? I'm no script writer) to get the desktop-greeting to work at login! Much nicer than Knoppix greeter!
The solution has been mentioned elsewhere, but by trial and error ... virt-manager .... ROCKS! The first time a VM with decent graphics as if running on native hardware - well it is - ditch Virtual Box anyone reading this. Virt Manager is COOOOOOOOL!
Hmmm! Looks like I have managed to create a couple of .img files but when I try to create new VM's and use the .img files Aqemu reports 'no boot device found' - where am I going wrong?
Not sure where I am going wrong on this - using the konsole I fall foul of su limitations for creating mnt and vhd directories which I can't access as a user for drag and drop option. I discovered the graphical method - a lot of 'processing' goes on but nothing appears to happen apart from the system losing monitor output when going to sleep then when waking only one monitor showing up. I can identify the .vhd file but not sure:
a. What I should call the new file (*.img?) or where it should be saved/
b. What method I should be using: nbd, nfs, null-aio, null-co, nvme, on, parallels, project, qcow, qcow2 (default), qed, quorum, raw, rbd, replication, report, sheepdog, ssh, the, throttle, to, vdi, vdhx, vmdk, vpc, vvfat. There's also a 'See' section below the options but nothing shown. Also whether should be compressed.
I am trying to import Windows 7 Pro 32-bit VM that was created in Virtual Box on another Linux OS but not getting very far. The image from VBox has the following files:
*.vbox
*.vbox-prev
*.vhd (the one I use as source for conversion.
1-1.15-linux.vbox
1_1.vdi
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I can't migrate to Devuan for work purposes until I can get Windows 7 VM up and running as I need to access a mailbox that is secondary to my main one which I have successfully set up on the other Linux OS and also on Devuan - the mailbox relates to work requests that have to be processed which means having to use Outlook 365. I have attempted in the past to export the associated .pst file for said mailbox as a possible work around but no such luck.
Hi,
Sadly this last week I had to install Teams on Devuan as it did not pick up the Webcam as I am currently undertaking Mandarin Class via Teams. This meant quickly having to install Teams on Devuan which I didn't want to do as my experience is that it takes over the machine (even after removing it from startup applications!) Aaaaarrrrrrrggggghhhh!
lsusb in Konsole on the Host picks up the id and correctly identifies the device:

In Qemu Under USB connections I have:

I am aware that when using VB I had to change the USB settings toi 1.1 (shows how old the webcam is). Would I be better off upgrading the webcam to a newer model?
Thanks.
Having researched and found that I can import .vhd's created in VB can be imported into Qemu, I will be using the Brailleblaster version for Windows on a Windows 7 VM (which is what I am currently doing on another drive with different OS on it so I will be migrating all my stuff off of that drive to Devuan 3.0.
Thanks Head_on_a_Stick. Have done per your instructions - the confusion came about through a link someone else posted and that linked to similar layout for Debian Buster - hence the question. Your solution provided the answer. Just looked at packages that get installed with Cinnamon and as PulseAudio and rtkit are present by Lennart I have avoided installing. Such a shame Gnome devs are such Numpties! (Just been reading on articles for friend who wants to leave systemd behind for sysinit).
[Just as I was posting this my pc auto shutoff and rebooted - had a similar issue with CoolerMaster PSU earlier this year that got replaced under warranty. This is a thermaltake 650 W - the only other issue might be poor performing antisurge 8-way socket (unswitched) or the Ryzen 7 CPU getting a bit toasty creating thermal cutout!]
Will Devuan 3.0 run ok on hardware of following specs:
Notebook with i5 processor and 8 Gb of RAM?
Friend in a rush (other side of the world) so once I get actual make and model will post back.
My bad - sorry!
Would I edit with 'Buster' option?
Thanks Head_on_a_Stick - I'll play safe and take the second option.
If people want to look at this package I can upload it to my pCloud account and provide a link so it can be downloaded and examined.
I can only speak of previous experience of using prorprietary drivers in the past ended up giving me a worse experience than Nouveau drivers. Even changing the rendering mode bit in Firefox didn't help either. No worries. I am quite happy with the way things are. If it changes I'll read up on it again. Thanks.

Oh the Bliss of Devuan! Will give it a go. Thanks Head_on_a_Stick.
For my current daily go to I am using FerenOS with VB of Windows 7 32-bit pro as I need it to access Outlook365 to access a shared mailbox - would love to get that into evolution (the second mailbox that doesn't belong to anyone but 4 staff can access - it's a mailbox for work request processing). I also used to run ZorinOS 15 but after all the shenanigans with Snap being as secure as telnet and finger (:->) I was attempting to try Devuan on an old drive and wiped my Zorin - all gone and with all my data too - TEst Disk could not recover as there was an overlap/misalignment of cylinders - hey ho - the price you pay when you mess with computers in an upset state and late at night. I was (am) hoping to make Devuan 3.0 (KDE Plasma) to replace FerenOS but crucial for my work is Braille Blaster whilst working from home which runs (but currently poorly) on Feren OS - I may go back to an earlier release that did not have all the latest bells and whistles but met roughly what I need. Now that Head_on_a_Stick has mentioned Alpine Linux I'm going to have to take a look!
I've installed windowsfx 10 as a vm on AQemu on Devuan 3.0 as sadly I have to use Teams at work, despite my insistence that Jitsi is superior in every way (you can't share 2 monitors in Teams!)
Well just thought I would update the thread. Decided to give AQemu a go and it works pretty well. The only thing I have to do differently is that the iso used to create the image is still present at reboot so just have to choose boot from 'hard disk' to get to the real vm. I also like the fact I don't have to keep pressing right ctrl to escape the vm to get to the actual KDE desktop. Nice. I think I could get used to Qemu over VB.
Guess it's covered in the title. When I receive update notifications in the panel, telling me there are 4 updates I click on the update button, Discover interface opens but nothing happens. I only recently discovered that I have to use apper manually to install the updates. Is this because there is a security issue/bug in Discover?
Currently using KDE and LXQt DE's. Wicd is appearing in KDE alongside KDE's Network Manager Applet - any reason not to remove wicd? (Remember using it many years ago on earlier Linux Distros.
Hi,
I am having some Java issues. I am aware that the de-facto current version in Linux appears to be version 11.0. In another distribution I had to remove 11.0 and installed 8.0. I am going seriously wrong in Devuan 3.0 for this application to work. It isn't packaged particularly well - the 'Linux version' is just a zip file which also includes the installer for Windows and Mac. The Linux version just runs from an .sh script. It needs the Java package that comes with it linked via a shortcut to the desktop. I've tried doing the same as on other OS also running KDE Plasma (but a slightly newer version of Plasma) without much issue until the most recent stable version seemed less stable than the one I had been using earlier.
This is the error message I get when trying to launch the application:

Only if you install anything from that component. Use vrms to check for any installed blobs in your system.
And as GlennW notes you might still need the proprietary firmware to achieve reasonable performance with your graphics card.
OK. Thanks for making it clear to me - time to remove Cinnamon DE. My Graphics card is working just fine in KDE. The only blobs I have on my other system currently in use for Work purposes has some specific MS Fonts and Proprietary licenced fonts needed for specialism I work in - KDE Font manager is easier to manage than messing around with ttf-mscorefonts-installer! And in respect of Proprietary Software I get better compatibility with SoftMaker Office for Linux over LibreOffice. Since using SoftMaker Office 2021, my workflow has increased tremendously - it is so much more logically laid out (backend wise) than M$. I was hoping to move completely from FerenOS to Devuan 3.0 for work purposes in a few weeks time. My main sticking point at the moment is a specialist package, Linux version - I will start a separate post for that.
Thanks for everyone's responses.
UPDATE - have removed Cinnamon DE and xfce - noticed that both of these had elements of pulse-audio whilst uninstalling via Synaptic Package Manager and one of them had the infamous real-time processor named rtkit - not a rootkit I know but a stupid naming convention by the author of pulseaudio (and author of systemd). So I now just have KDE and LXQt. Have marked this thread as [CLOSED].
Think I have solved this using 'apper'.
