#26 Re: Devuan » The point of Devuan? » 2020-05-17 04:19:51

Yes my opinion is that devuan is a systemd-free debian and much more .
Just looking at other distro's you can see how gnome is getting more and more space, memory and bugs all I wanted was a system that just works when you see the problems you get with the damned systemd you just say thank you devuan.
Even if I am still at my begining of creating and programing I am very happy that devuan has a great community here .
I was not a Irc person but I will start joining the channel and see what is the atmosphere there , all I can say is that on this forums is all perfect

Try ifconfig -a and check maybe the name is not wlan0
And you need to change it .

I believe is a driver problem and or not installed correctly so please:

Get a live cd , copy the drivers from the live in your installed  system restart, voila .... should work like a charm.

And from my experience I would use apt to install deb packages

Apt-get install ./file-name

and you don't have to stress about gdebi.
Hope it helps!

Just as a question if you installed sophos anti virus too then you can disable it like this :
sudo /opt/sophos-av/bin/savdctl disable
If you don't have sophos installed then

Apt-get install libvpx

Hope it helps!

#30 Re: Hardware & System Configuration » Microphone on webrtc not working due to hardware settings? » 2020-05-17 03:20:31

You can't load webRTC using file:/// just try using simple http:// instead, load with :
Python -m SimpleHTTPServer
That in Python2 in Python3:
Python -m http.server 8000
And you should  not have any errors.

Hello to the Devuan derivateurs corner, does that happen after install or update / upgrade ?
Does it work into a live session ?

Usually i encountered that problem when some packages of xserver are not getting installed so i recommend reinstalling xorg.
Before x starts  you might be able to use your keyboard so login and reinstall xorg .
Hope it helps you too.

OK so thinking of this , i got to realiza that most of devuan derivatives websites are on sourceforge so i decided to buy a domain and offer free subdomain to every devuan derivative
Domain that you will have your subdomain is
Devuan.club just got it so your domain will look like
Fluxuan.devuan.club
*.devuan.club
The main devuan.club will redirect to main devuan website so if you want a subdomain please email me for now and later on i will create a new thread where you can request it.

@zephyr - Thank you very much !!!

With all this madness in the world had a bit more time so i updated the FluXuan website - > https://FluXuan.sourceforge.io  as a first step
Second step i already started to work on a beowulf release and made the decision what programs will always be installed in all the releases that i will make .

Third step i started working to make a method to install FluXuan as a choice as WM from the Devuan netinstaller!

So see you as soon as UK closes everything HEHEHEHEH !!!!

FluXuan v2 x86_64 is now on sourceforge page , click on files FluXuan 2019 and download it now you have the ability to add icons in fluxbox toolbar and automatic menu  besides that comes with almoast all the programs you mightneed installed

#38 Re: Devuan Derivatives » [NEW]-FluXuan Linux-[RELEASE] » 2019-06-15 18:31:54

@veloc , you need a minimum of 256 mb of ram to run fluxuan 32 bit and gtk2 and 3 are usable you can install any gtk 2 or 3 theme.

@ Mr.Bean you can add any theme you want in /home/.fluxbox/styles or just open pcmanfm hit ctrl+h and all the hidden folders will show go in .fluxbox then styles and paste you desired theme.

Cosque thank you so much for your interest in my little work for some time now i strugle to the second release that i want to be more faster and available for some other laptops that are way more older but the answer to your question and driver is simple as

copy paste that in a terminal

apt-get update && apt-get install firmware-iwlwifi

and you could do a reboot after , enjoy ..

Darry1966 first i am sorry for a late answer i have been in a long nice Holiday , just got back to a really hot weather here in the UK , to help you a little bit related to your problems related to mounting
apt-get install udevil it will mount them automatically for you and i see that you figured out with the drivers , i will make sure to add the drivers in my net release witch is finished but i was in holiday and could not polish everything.

Thank you for using FluXuan.

hi i'm new to fluxuan ...

i have a trouble to mount  usb key or optical disk when i use the user i create at begining  .... i can only mount when i open a root session

please how could i get right to mount the device as my current user ?

Thanks in advance

mkdir /media/usb

and according to your removable drive block name in /dev so you can see that you can use fdisk -l
usually that happens because you formatted or created the partitions on the drive as root so

mount /dev/sdb1 /media/usb

and if requires permissions use sudo if you set that up at installation

sudo mount /dev/sdb1 /media/usb  -  /dev/sdb1 is an example you can see your drive with fdisk -l

BTW 2 more days to next release , that will have a lot of bugs fixed and will use a lot less resources .

Seems like Slim  have problems with policykit permissions related to udisks and upower when you use JWM or ICEWM.

If there is a new linux user and does not like using sudo mount /dev/XXX then it will be a small problem using Slim.

With Slim will give problems in auto mounting Removable Drives, even if you turn your computer on with the flashdrive in .

I will try to write a wiki with no gramatical problems and better structure , for the moment i am trying to finish the FluXuan website .

It will be fun to reed because,  i still work on my English skills being Romanian and English my second Language and the fact i started using it 4 years ago,
could give me a small excuse in the way i write . big_smile

32bit only is an interesting approach. I think 64bit might perform a little better for some calculations (where being able to use 64bit registers is an advantage or the noriously low register count of x86 becomes noticable) but will use more RAM (due to larger pointers, larger alignments and probably also larger opcodes). What kind of specs do you have in mind when you think of older hardware? I see nothing wrong with using 64bit on a Core 2 Duo with 2GB of RAM (that's actually what i am using right now - without swap). Systems where i'd opt for 32bit would likely have 512MB or even less RAM (besides CPUs that simply don't support it of course).

Ohhh Yeah that is s question related to this topic  big_smile LOLOLOL

First , thank you devuser for the interest in FluXuan

What i will try to do is a system that can be used on a system let us say AMD k6 2 with 800mghz and 512 mb of ram ...... that is why next release will not have chromium and a lot of changes in the program list as in kernel a lot of tweaks to reduce ram usage and size ...... with the next release i will release MiniUan witch will be only the base of FluXuan no Xorg or anything just the minimum base of Devuan with FluXuan tweaks that anyone can build on .

I hope this will please a lot of users!
