Alsamixer did it. Alsamixer showed headphones sliders white out, I turned them gray and pushed sliders up.
Thank you all for your replies.
Hi
Try with alsamixer on a terminal. Pulseaudio is not enabled by default on Devuan and is not really needed. You can use either alsamixer or in your gui add an alsamixer (for instance volumeicon-alsa), or enable pulseaudio by doing the following: Pulseaudio
- If you have no sound, make sure the following line in
/etc/pulse/client.conf.d/00-disable-autospawn.conf is commented as

I have sound on speakers only, no sound on headphones.

I dont know about pavucontrol because I dont use pulseaudio, but I could try to use alsamixer to see the level of headphones.
I will try alsamixer.
Head_on_Stick,
Not USB regular 3.5mm.
I can hear sound from speakers. When I insert headphones sound to speakers stops however, no sound to headphones. When I load pavucontrol, I get "Establishing connection to pulseaudio. Please wait..."
This laptop has a Realtek ALC292 sound card. Hopefully someone can assist me. I wonder if there is some kind of sound driver I need.
Regards,
Installation was installing to sda I changed that to sda1 and all went well.
I just tried a Debian method but did not work. https://wiki.debian.org/GrubEFIReinstall
Thank you for your assistance.

I hope someone here can help with this one. I am fairly new to mc. I can't seem to be able to open files with proper programs. How do you assign default programs to open files in mc?
i.e. videos, texts, and so on...I have searched the web but nothing.
Cheers.

yep
I shall lean to creating a git.
I have a lot of respect for FreeBSD specially. I have it installed on a second box. If I could do all I do with Devuan on FreeBSD I will probably have the later on my main box.
Not because I am using Devuan but, this is the best distro/OS out there right now.
FreeBSD has a great sound package in OSS but it's giving me a torrid time while pulseaudio is very playable. Yes, I know I can install pulseaudio on FreeBSD but why if OSS is there.
Not an expert but I wonder how it's pulled into the Beowulf installation that I am running. Probably a manual install I did loads it up in the package management...?
golinux, can you help with the team in porting veromix in future releases?
Sorry about my super excitement.
I was greatly happy and surprised that Devuan repos includes veromix. The last time I installed it straight up I was using Debian Jessie. Since then I have been compiling from old source and playing around with mix results. If Linux should have a good sound interface/mixer/equalizer veromix is a good candidate IMHO. The various option of equalization it offers are out of this world.
I would love for someone else to check and verify that in fact veromix is really included in Devuan repos.

Heaven people!
Yes, previously installed.
I installed the nvidia driver. So far so good.
Thanks
Have you installed the non-free firmware that is required by the nouveau driver?
Can you please share the name of the package? I don't know of a nouveau non-free firmware. I just searched but nothing good came up.
Hello good people,
Devuan Beowulf.
When I play some videos the box freezes but surely as soon as I run compton. I know from old experience, this could mean video driver issue or RAM. I checked RAM no issue there. The box runs nouveau even thought the video card is Nvidia. I don't want to bother installing the Nvidia driver.
Is there a possibility that an oxrg.conf file could fix the freezing issue?
Regards,
Well I did an update and restarted the box. The correct hostname is back. Too bad I will never know what caused that.
# The loopback network interface
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
# The primary network interface
allow-hotplug eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp
Thanks for the help
I haven't restarted this machine for a while now. I restarted it this time but the terminal has a different name than the one in /etc/hostname. The terminal has "new-host-5".
$ hostname
also returned "new-host-5".
No clue what might have caused the change but is there a way to display the correct name?
I am on Beowulf.
Thank you,
Devuan main box.
FreeBSD second box.
Debian Jessie media server.
I will give it a go and report back.
Thank you,
Worked like charm.
Thanks again.
You good people here know how to install "dcaenc"? It seems avidemux and handbrake can't output AC3 or DTS without dcaenc.
Thank you,
I appreciate the inputs. Thanks. I thought I will have to use vnc like the good people of FreeBSD.
