Maybe you're looking in /home/<user> instead of /home (which is a root directory)?
Yeah, that was it. I found it, that's why I deleted my post. I just now burned it to a DVD, so after I'm done with this post I'm going to reboot and see if it works.
@GNUser: Thanks for the additional info!
According to this website here, I'm not using uefi, which surprised me because I thought I was. Is the info at this site correct?

Nevertheless, you should exclude your data if there's any significant amount and use a different method for the data backup.
When you say different method, do you mean an app other than refractsnapshot? Or do you mean another method with refractsnapshot?
Thanks for you reply, golinux. A few things: one, out of curiosity I opened synaptic and redid my search of "iso," and refractasnapshot was in the list. Somehow I missed it yesterday. Next, I assume refractasnapshot doesn't have a gui, as it's not listed anywhere in the start menu?
When running it in the terminal, I get this message:
configfile is /etc/refractasnapshot.conf
uefi setting is yes
Warning: grub-efi-amd64 is not installed.
The snapshot will not be compatible with UEFI.
To disable this warning, set make_efi=no in /etc/refractasnapshot.conf
My first question is how do I know whether I need to download grub-efi-amd64, or just disable the warning (as is said in the last line)? If I should install it, I'm concerned that it will mess up my system. Will it change the way my system boots?
EDIT:
Found out you can download the gui from sourceforge, which I did.
First, I hope I put this in the right place. I would like to create a bootable .iso file of my system. I would intend to put it on a DVD disc so if the need for reinstallation ever came about, I could reinstall my system with all the apps I use already installed. To be clear, I already did some research (which made my head swim) and found out about partimage. I installed it, but apparently it won't work for me as the documentation says it works with ext2/3, but doesn't say anything about ext4, which is what I use. I also read about another way, I think it's called "dd," but I can't remember for sure. But I read that it will make the iso file the same size as the disk, including the unused space, so that wouldn't work for me. I searched Synaptic using "iso" but couldn't find what I wanted (but I might have missed something as I really don't know what I'm looking for). Can someone recommend an app, or a way to do this? I'm not asking for detailed instructions, just give me the name of an app, or a link. Thanks.
Thanks siva for sharing your experience with deleting avahi. I also got the same things as you and golinux.

And desktop users are NOT our target audience
This statement has me baffled. Do you mean desktop as in Desktop Environment, or as in desktop versus laptop?

@siva . . . You'd think a quick search would be the first thing to do. But is sooo much easier to let someone else do it.
If you go back, you'd see that I did say I'd research it when I have the time. You know, I have a full time job, and a wife and kid that takes quite a bit of my time. I don't live on the computer. I really don't know what I said to warrant such passive aggression. And who was whining? That crack was unwarranted.
I am still "fairly" new to Linux. And I'm just a computer user, not a geek (I don't mean that pejoratively). When I have time I'll research it, I guess.
I agree with spartrekus that pulseaudio is crap. I avoid anything made by its author.
I have something on my computer made by Lennart Poettering? I avoid anything that guy makes.
Can I get more info on how to disable this crap? I have no idea what rcconf is.
When I first tried Devuan, I had no idea which installation option I should use. So it was confusing for me. And the one I did download didn't work. Maybe I downloaded the wrong one? Thankfully the Miyo installation file worked. I can appreciate where esr is coming from on this issue, and most of the other things he has said. If he can start his own derivative of Devuan, I'd help any way I could (which would probably be limited to be a beta tester).
I took what he wrote to mean that he tried to install Devuan over top of Mint. Any other way wouldn't be possible, right? It seems he is knowledgeable enough to know that.
So if you have never done a Debian install, your frustration it seems is not really based on any facts is it, or am i missing something here?
He has tried a Devuan install:
The first, my wife's home-office machine, is "minx", an Intel NUC running Mint 19 - I've tried to Devuanize that and failed.
Hi Vargr, I've come over to Devaun from Mint also. It really isn't that hard. If you have questions, just post them here. This is a friendly forum.
Did you download the app via Synaptic? That might be the problem as the repo version is too old to work with youtube videos. I download the app straight from their website (using wget) which gives you the current version:
Should we consider this as good news or bad news? Or neutral news?
I totally deleted the line, "sleep 0.5" and the line itself. That was the right way to do it, right? It seems to have made the delay a (very) tad bit shorter.
Thanks GNUser.
Thanks dzz.
Thanks GNUser, sudo chmod a+x /usr/local/bin/atril did the trick. There's just one little annoyance . . . when I open Atril (and AbiWord), it first opens unmaximized for a split second, before going maximized. But I can live with that (I'm guessing there's nothing that can be done about that).
@GNUser, it isn't working for me. When I open Atril (from the desktop icon) it still doesn't open maximized.
Thanks golinux. I'm using Mate. The "Save Current Settings as Default" option didn't help. Any other ideas?
Interesting article. How do you disable IPv6? Is disabling it a bad idea?
There are two apps, specifically AbiWord and Atril, that don't open in a maximized window. What can I do to get them to always open maximized? I did a search but came up empty. And, closing them while maximized will not make them open next time maxed.
I guess none of you are on the Devuan mail lists or IRC. Perhaps this is a wakeup call to get more involved . . . . Devuan is not going anywhere. Someone from Debian did reach out to us and Devuan devs are now cooperating and contributing to ensure sysvinit functionality in Debian. Devuan devs are also working actively on runit and openrc.
Glad to hear this. I had been worried reading this thread, until I saw the above quoted post.
Thanks for your work!
