TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY edited this post, because Debian removed the Leafpad .deb package... ![]()
However...luckily...without obtrusion...and instinctively...I still have the last version .deb saved. ![]()
I still use Leafpad and will continue using it until it no longer works or an obscure security issue arises. ![]()
Nothing against l3afpad, but I just don't like having to concentrate on typing that name correctly if I need to sudo it... ![]()
Uncle aluma, I can't speak for everyone, but I have been amazed by this...
Long ago, I stopped putting seasonings on vegetables. My taste palate eventually changed. Now, I enjoy the taste(s) of the actual vegetables themselves instead of covering them with seasonings... ![]()
...on the rare occasions that I don't eat just a salad.
...and I smile. ![]()
I decided to live on the edge today...broccoli and carrots (no seasoning), and chicken with a little Cayenne pepper...
I'm a wild man!!!
![]()

It really makes me sick that viruses and bacteria invade my body without my permission...

My first thought was to say to just be patient and wait, and the issue would be fixed and resolve itself.
In my experience, this issue with deb.devuan.org in the sources.list used to happen maybe once or twice a year? I can't remember since it's so infrequent...plus...I'm amnesiactical... ![]()
It's stable after all. In my lowly opinion, the only pressing issue would be if a user was trying to install a package from the repos under those circumstances...I don't think waiting a few days (for an issue like this to be resolved) would be a detriment to security on a stable system, but I digress. ![]()
...or...the user could try changing their sources.list or installing a different "network-manager" so as not to have to worry about it in the future??? ![]()
No sir. If it's doing fine now, don't worry with it.
It's just my experience that deb.devuan.org has hiccups every now-and-then.
Glad everything is working for you now.
Hmmm...I still had a wireless connection, so I could still use a web browser, run an update, etc...my issue was just with deb.devuan.org in the sources.list.
Are you using an ethernet cable to connect or a wireless connection???
This is my recommendation...only mine.
If others have some other input, wait to see what they say.
You are in the US, right?
1. Open your terminal. Then open your file manager as root...sorry, I don't know the name of MATE's file manager...such as...
sudo your-file-manager's-nameNavigate to /etc/apt/sources.list, and open the sources.list with your text editor. If you're more comfortable with this, put a # in front of each line in your sources.list (to disable them), then Copy and paste the sources.list that I gave in a post above...there is another alternative US mirror, but the one I'm using works good for me.
2. Save the file.
3. Run a...
sudo apt update4. If it doesn't return any errors, you'll be good to go. ![]()
Ron,
Several months ago, I changed over from CMST to Network Manager on my JWM and Openbox systems...mainly because my wife uses the JWM machine, and CMST will periodically drop the wireless connection...and she would go ballistic when that would happen. Hahaha!
I still use CMST on this machine that I'm typing this message on.
On this machine, changing my sources.list to one of the alternatives fixed the issue. I haven't checked my JWM or Openbox systems in over 2 weeks, so I can't attest to whether they were having the issue or not...but I trust what zephyr has told you.
When I switched the other two machines over to network manager, I used synaptic...
1. First, I installed network-manager-gnome (that will pull in everything needed).
2. Second, after it installed the packages, I ran nm-applet from my Run Command utility...to make sure it would show in the system tray. It did, so I disconnected from CMST and connected to network manager.
3. Third, after seeing that I had a good connection, I went back to synaptic and did a search for connman (CMST is based on connman). I marked all installed packages relating to connman to be completely removed.
I don't remember if I rebooted or not. I probably did, just to make sure nm-applet would show up in the system tray after adding it to my autostart files.
That's how I did it. If anyone sees something wrong with those steps, feel free to make corrections. ![]()
HAHAHA! That's a good one quikfur!!! ![]()
I've never been much into Blues, but that was fantastic! Thanks aluma!
I'm on the other side...
Is this a personal preference...a cosmetic feature that you would like to have on your spin?
I've just installed Sakura and three other terminals without any customization (Kitty, RXVT, and QTerminal). The title bars (including xterm) all read the same...
tap@miyolinux
There's probably a script you could write that would do what you're wanting...or setting the terminal's title bar name with a .bashrc file???
I don't know. All that I do know is that I have never personally paid attention to the terminal's title bar name until this. Hahaha! ![]()
I've looked at the configuration files for each one, but none of them gave me anything about setting the title bar name. ![]()
I don't even have a title bar on my terminal on my Openbox and JWM systems. ![]()
Good luck! ![]()
Guitar Excellence...
Aw man! Love April Wine!!! Thanks!

Ahhh...gotcha. Yes sir, that must be frustrating. Best of luck.
I have to admit...I got the "Pop Goes the Weasel" idea from Jim on the old US television show "Taxi".

This seems to happen periodically with deb.devuan.org in the sources.list
I changed mine to one of the alternatives listed on this page...

Here is my sources.list...

I've never attempted learning "Sister Golden Hair". That band is amazing!!!
You have my utmost respect for playing it! ![]()
I don't use Farce-Book... ![]()
Braaaahhhhh!!! You've got to check out Triumph at the US festival (1983)!!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=032W5-qn5wk
WATCH THE WHOLE THING when you have time!!! Then look up specific songs on YouTube.
I wrote a song (finger picking), and I was approached to make a record. The dude wanted just me...not the whole band. It felt sleazy. That was the closest I ever got to a recording contract, and I turned it down. I don't regret it.
Now, I play for myself, my wife, and friends.
My favorite thing is to be asked to play the guitar in a crowd. So, I pick up the guitar and "attempt" to play "Pop Goes the Weasel"...but I mess it up on purpose. ![]()
So, I "try" again...and mess it up on purpose again...to see the frowns on people's faces.
Hahaha! ![]()
Then, I play some classical guitar piece, and I watch their faces turn from frowns to smiles. ![]()
I just like having fun now...life is too short. ![]()
I can't answer your question. Sorry.
However, I've tried many terminals...and it has been a bane to me. At the end of the day, I decided to just use xterm (since it comes in automagically when building my own system). Took A LOT of searches on how to get it customized to my liking...you know...default font, font size, transparency, etc...
Now...after figuring out all of that fluff with an .Xresources file in my home folder and a line for transparency in my picom file, I can't imagine using another terminal. ![]()
I know that doesn't help you, but I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish??? Sorry. ![]()

My family and I just got back from a 10-day vacation.
I love Joe Satriani, when his tune "Always with you, Always with me" came on the radio I bought my first electric guitar
I have that song on my daily play-list. When I used to work in a large US city, the traffic was awful. If you didn't drive like a maniac, you'd get run over. So, I would often play Satriani's "Surfing with the Alien" to get my adrenaline pumped up just to keep up with everyone else. Haha!
I still like to rock. Boston, Cheap Trick, 38-Special, Kansas, Triumph, Rush, ZZ-Top...the whole gamut. ![]()
However, I'm slowly teaching myself classical guitar. I took one guitar lesson when I was 14. The guy mostly played country music. I asked him if he would to teach me to play "Wipe Out".
After that one lesson, I taught myself from then on.
Q. What did Yoda say when he saw himself on a 4K Television?
