@scutterflux . . . I hope you are aware that MXLinux is not free of systemd. Their packages may contain systemd 'hooks' that could be incompatible with Devuan and even try to pull in systemd components (which should be banned here).
Hi. =-)
Finally I am a member yay!!1! ;-)
Indeed you are! Nice to see you here. Wish I could help with your question but alas, no.
Jessie = Jessie
ASCII = Stretch
Beowulf = Buster
Ceres = Sid
Not here. Try it on the Ubuntu groupies. LOL!
Here is my sources.list:
And very important as @devuser stated; edit the file in linux , not windows nor mac.
You also should use a TEXT editor, not a word processor that leaves undesirable cruft.
You'll find everything here: https://devuan.org/os/etc/apt/sources.list
No. That repo contains Devuan specific or tweaked Debian packages that are being tested. Those packages will eventually move to merged.
i am trying the minimal live installer.
how do i start the installer from the terminal?
hello
I have to apologize for my behavior.
No need to apologize.
Some have upgraded without issues. YMMV.
I believe that until now I had not interfered, that the rhythm of devuan is different from what I was used to.
What is clear is that in devuan the LAST thing that matters is the rhythm.
We are hoping that we will be able to catch up to the Debian release cycle by the time that Buster is stable.
I have to say that I feel like a hacktivist again, thanks to devuan. I have been and I stopped being, you all know why, I think.

I have to admit that my anxiety comes from managing 5 email accounts and kmail 5.12 has introduced the components. A real wonder.
I'm seeing this with a package search: [beowulf] kmail-17.12.3-1 not kmail 5.12
big thanks

You're very welcome!
I joined the firestarter mail list back is 2007. Used it on Squeeze. It worked well but has been dead for a very, very long time.
Beowulf is not ready for primetime yet. Especially on the Desktop.
@1init . . . Welcome to the forum now that you were finally able to register. That is a very useful first post! Persistence always wins the day with Linux, doesn't it. LOL!
I only have one suggestion. Above the input box, there is a list of tags available to help format posts. Your presentation would benefit from the use of code tags like this:
sudo xzcat devuan_ascii_2.0.0_armhf_chromeacer.img.xz | sudo dd of=REPLACEME bs=2MI was delighted to see that mate-power-manager was finally available for ascii. Installed it to find that there is no option for 'suspend' for power button or suspend button action. pm-suspend works fine - why doesn't mate-power-manager off it as an option? Every night I have to type 'sudo pm-suspend' at the command line to put my computer to sleep...
Bash history is good for executing repetitive commands (up arrow). You might also create an alias for that. Best would be to fix the bug though . . .
hey golinux yes Spock then possibly Uhura!
Keep it going ozi!
(golinux gets all nostalgic)
We're working on a Dev1Voyager blog atm. An homage to the first Star Trek movie and NASA . . .
Well done, zephyr!!
Hey ozi . . . Congrats! I like the Kirk thing!! Spock next?
Firefox has become the most odd of oddities. LOL! Try disabling all your extensions to see if the problem goes away. If it does, start re-enabling them one at a time to find the culprit. If disabling extensions doesn't stop that behavior, create a new Moziila profile. If that stops it, a corrupted profile is likely the problem. .You can also test by logging into Devuan as another user. If it goes away, Firefox is OK and it's something with the affected user.
Things changed in stretch. Thank Debian. IIRC it had something to do with wayland.
Congrats, rolfie!!
Sounds like the pkexec bug. You can get some pointers from this DNG thread. I use gksu to launch root apps to get around this..
Have you read the Release Notes?
Hello,
The question is essentially just what the title is asking: is there any way to directly install Ceres/Unstable?
No. There are no ceres isos. AFAIK, you'll have to do it via an upgrade. Maybe someone else will have another idea for you.

I assume that you mean Devuan Jessie is now under oldstable status? Please, correct if I am wrong.
I wasn't aware of that but according to this page yes.
Debian Jessie oldstable support has now ended and it is now under the LTS program, not provided by Debian security team, but by third parties.
If possible, I'd just like a clarification on how this works currently for Devuan.
Is there a Devuan security team that provides security updates for Jessie currently under oldstable release? Or do the security updates come mirrored from the Debian LTS program?
Will there be an LTS program for Devuan Jessie too, which will extend beyond the Debian Jessie's LTS?
We follow the Debian LTS cycle as described on this page. The LTS upgrades applied to Debian will be available in the Devuan Jessie repos as they have always been.
