FluxBB

I love this forum, everything is so responsive and neatly arranged
However, the FluxBB github has not seen any commits for 4 years now and the official homepage is dead

Does this mean that we need to change our forum software at some point or is this really not a big deal?

I hope we will never use discourse. I strongly dislike everything about it.

Re: FluxBB

@ alphalpha . . . Yes, FluxBB is a good fit for Devuan. The software was old even when it was first installed. I have no idea if there have been any "official" updates since then but there have been some custom modifications. Here's the story of how we got to FluxBB . . .

Devuan's first forum was Discourse. It was not very well received by Devuan users. So I created and self-hosted Dev1Galaxy as the "The Officially Unofficial Devuan Forum!" alternative. Two or so years later, Discourse was mothballed and Dev1Galaxy became the "Officially Official Devuan Forum!".

As long as it works, why would there be any reason to change it? SNS is not exactly Devuan's style . . . wink

Re: FluxBB

There was a lot of work, mostly upgrades, done last night on the forum. This is a post to check if it is working!

EDIT: There were a few glitches but everything seems to be running smoothly now. Please report any irregularities if they pop up. Keeping fingers crossed . . .

Re: FluxBB

I'm not crazy about FluxBB but it sure beats the crap out of discourse. Discourse doesn't work in the Pale Moon browser and they (Discourse) don't care two hoots about it.

Re: FluxBB

RSS topic feeds don't appear to be working, they used to work until a day or so ago.  Everything else seems fine.

The fault thrown by "News & Announcements" RSS button is:

An error was encountered
Error: Unable to write cache file cache_feed8df782b021b768cf1a496efa6167b051f870dda0.php to cache directory. Please make sure PHP has write access to the directory '/home/flux/forum/cache/'.

Re: FluxBB

I'm glad to see that the new version of this forum still works in my daily driver browser, Firefox 51 (on Debian 7). Not many websites work in that old browser smile
