YES! MXLinux, relies on AntiX work! it's the most common sense to join effors with anticapitalis guy!
That "anticapitalista guy" is on this forum nearly every day and was known to many of us at the refracta forum long before Devuan was a thing.

I think golinux said somewhere on this forum that devuan is 98% pure debian. That means using packages built against a corresponding debian release is 98% likely to work, on average. Unless you get packages which are heavily systemd related.

If it doesn't work, you can always blame golinux for lulling you into a false sense of security with the 98/2 statistics. (jk) :-)
Your interpretation of what constitutes a Debian repository could lead to a Frankendevuan! FWIW, debmultimedia has always been a risky adventure. If you decide to go there check the package carefully and remember that you added a non-native package when the devuan version arrives.

Actually I suspect that this is the tip of the iceberg.
Used to be that the "wontfix" issues were listed on their stats page. That went away a year or more ago. No telling what's buried in there that will come to bite us.

@Roger . . . Thanks for doing that. One question . . . did you install the incompatible driver from the Devuan repos, Debian repos directly of from nVidia? That might be a factor is why the old driver was not found. I'm not quite sure where/what his script checks. Or perhaps there was an instruction somewhere to remove the current driver before proceeding. I really can't remember the process. It was so long ago.

It appears to be in ascii and ceres. Looks like that omission comes directly from debian as we have not forked that package. Have you checked backports?

But Debian also means (in some way, methinks) systemd related.
LOL! 98% of Devuan is pure Debian. These are the Debian packages banned in Devuan.
As I always try to avoid installing anything from outside the Devuan repositories, I went to synaptic expecting to find it there, just like inxi.
I did not find it so I went looking for it at https://pkginfo.devuan.org/ and it had not been / was not there either.This called my attention, which is why I asked.
I'll install it from HH's site but maybe (?) it could be added to the stable/backport repositories in the future?
If Debian had it, we would have it. We only touch files with systemd issues. If and when Debian offers it, then we will too.

@Altoid . . . thanks for tracking that down. I have always had great respect for HH and thank him for his contributions and making that script compatible with Devuan. You probably noticed that package comes directly from Debian - Origin: Debian.

Onefang, thanks for the excellent clarification.
Sometime I just get a bit paranoid and maybe I should switch to a https mirror.
I used to use the more specific, if still http, gb.deb.devuan.org until that was deprecated and we were recommended to use deb.devuan.org.
Maybe a disclaimer in the documentation about its load-sharing round-robin nature would help.

Considering the monied interests that "own" scientific research (perhaps the Gates Foundation is among them?), the "cure" is going to make a lot of people even richer because the "cure" will undoubtedly be patented. I'd rather let nature do its thing than participate. Note that I have never had a flu shot either.

You could open an issue at https://git.devuan.org/devuan-doc/docum … dev1fanboy to ask him or send him an email via this forum. He hasn't been here since early March. Of course, someone else may know the answer. Just not me.

"Gnome Videos" is not a proper filename in Ubuntu or Debian. What might it be? If it is available in Debian we should have it in Devuan unless it is on the banned package list http://pkgmaster.devuan.org/bannedpackages.txt Have you checked https://pkginfo.devuan.org/ to see if it is there?
