@zapper . . . it would be nice if more of your responses actually contributed knowledge to Devuan . . .
@zapper . . . we are in the home stretch . . .
Wow, you guys were mega fast in getting Devuan chimaera out...
The subject of this thread is misleading. Chimaera has not been "officially" released yet. Will be soon though . . .
I have heard rufus mentioned a few times too. A migration is possible https://www.devuan.org/os/install but not always trouble-free. Search the forum for discussions.
OK just searched for "Image failed to verify with ACCESS DENIED" and getting a lot of hits.
Have a look at this post: https://dev1galaxy.org/viewtopic.php?pid=30971#p30971
Since I always do legacy boot not sure it's the issue you're experiencing but doesn't hurt to mention it.
@durham . . . Old school wizards just know things . . . ![]()
So yes I'm putting my hand up if something needs doing . . .
Good intentions without action bears no fruit. He who seeks, finds. You are most welcome to offer solutions to posts on this forum or perhaps fix a bug. Only you know your skillset and abilities and can choose to offer them to the community. ![]()
You can check available packages using https://pkginfo.devuan.org/cgi-bin/policy-query.html
Yes, there is a "we" at Devuan. That is what's makes this distro unique and powerful.
I have not touched your email or forum accounts. Neither have I suggested or encouraged action to be taken by anyone else.
The 502 error on bugs.d.o has been fixed. It seems that /tmp was full.
In addition, the dev who processes the bug reports rarely visits this forum and has been on holiday.
We accept your apology. ![]()
@Jakoline . . .
There is a difference between what is said and what is interpreted through our mental filters. All humans suffer from these mental distortions and sadly build entire identities from the fictitious rationalizations and justifications generated from them.
You are only the victim of your own internal distortions and only you can heal them. Not to worry. You have plenty of company.
Devuan is on the track that it is on. Perhaps if you had stayed around and contributed, it would now be something more suited to your needs.
It seems that you have in effect, with your dramatic departure, self-banned. As everything in life, the choice is yours so best to choose wisely.
And finally a reminder . . . less is always more.
@Jakoline . . . Your apology should be directed to the Devuan community and those who provided the information needed to correct the issue you experienced but afaik (and please correct me if I'm wrong), never attempted to implement.
Please stop stuffing this forum with nonsense or we will do it for you.
edit: Filing a Debian bug with Devuan will not get the "bug" you perceive fixed. File it directly with Debian.
@Jakoline . . .To get back on-topic . . .
As per Head_on_a_Stick's post above, the behavior you described is present in the Debian installer so please file a bug with Debian if you would like that behavior changed.

True, though many more have seemingly just vanished.
Many have left the debian-based ecosystem entirely. I'm hoping it can hang together in a usable state till the end of my years on this imploding rock hurtling through space and time . . .
Jakoline wrote:nobody knows what FDN means it's called debian forums
No, it's not. forums.debian.net is logically abbreviated to FDN, always has been, always will be.
That took on a renewed importance @2012 when the previous "play nice with n00bs" policy was implemented at FDN and there was a substantial exodus from FDN to DUF aka the Debian User Forums which was only mothballed recently because we all found other sandboxes in which to play. Many have landed here . . .
@Jakoline . . .
FDN = Forums.Debian.Net
Feel free to move on . . .
@Jakoline . . . LOL! Have you ever considered that perhaps it is you that is broken and useless? From your posts at FDN, I suspected your presence here would quickly become adversarial. Feel free to move on. Byeeeeeeeeee . . .
PLEASE keep this thread focused on the possibility of running wicd in Chimaera. Does it work for you? What issues if any? Is it secure? Report your experiences here.
That answer is non -responsive. This thread is about wicd in Chimaera not about using Debian repositories directly which btw is not a good idea but then you get to keep all the pieces.
Please keep on-topic going forward as being able to use wicd safely will be important to many upgrading to Chimaera.
Debian testing is now "Bookworm" which will be the base for Devuan 5 "Daedalus".
Devuan 4 "Chimaera" is based on Debian "Bullseye" which is now stable.
Note that if you use "testing" in your sources.list, you will find yourself upgraded to "Bookworm"/"Daedalus" which is basically Ceres at this point.
And one more question. Why are "non-free" repositories initially connected? Are there only "free" branch repositories?
That is so users can actually install Devuan. You can avoid non-free firmware by following this advice in the Install Guide:
If you would like to select an alternate bootloader (lilo) or exclude non-free firmware, you must choose "Expert install" under Advanced options.
Dear developers! How can you explain the fact that your distribution has a Systemd folder (/etc/systemd)? What is it for if by default Devuan comes without Systemd?
Welcome to the forum.
Your question is answered in this sticky post:
Why are systemd files present in Devuan?
