#601 Re: Installation » [Solved] firefox-esr installed by Beowulf 3.1 dist-upgrade » 2021-02-25 11:34:07

It's a program that saves/backs-up websites. Mostly used by web site sys-admin types.

I used it to save neets, a navy electronics course site. :-)

You can save web page/s or entire sites (if you have permissions)

hope this helps.

No, I was thinking of pulse source code, and no I can't prove that. Off topic, sorry about that.

#606 Re: Off-topic » Question about Linux kernel (as relates to systemd) » 2021-02-07 08:07:25

imho, I thought it, systemd stepped outside the FOSS agreement(?)/standards because the source code was not readily readable by a human.

For the Washington Post video, go to Tools > Preferences > Content, and at the bottom uncheck "Enable MSE for MP4 video." Didn't check the rest of your links, but if it's the audio that's the problem in all of them, they should all work properly now.

I'm testing Ron's suggestion, and just ran a Ted Talk "https://www.ted.com/talks/richard_coffi … anguage=en",

And the audio is fine. Thank you Ron. ;-)

I must add, most of the ted talks I have tried to play lately have been through FaceBook, so I'll check those links in future as well.

The vids were playing at normal speed, but with the audio pitch-shifted to Darthvader-like unintelligible.

Thank you

I also use Palemoon and have playback problems with TED talks, the audio sounds pitch-shifted down a couple of octaves... Following your post seeking tips.

Make sure you have permission to use the device... someone here may tell us how.

#610 Re: Installation » SOLVED: Devuan's "systemctl daemon-reload" » 2021-01-08 22:20:55

I use open-rc and I am able to control services with "service $service start|stop|restart|status".

Not all services are the same, ymmv.

rc-update and rc-service come in handy too.

#611 Re: Hardware & System Configuration » Realtek Bluetooth 5.0 usb dongle firmware » 2021-01-08 08:08:05

Thank you Ralph, that made one error has go away.
plasma bluetooth setting gui, had a "click here yo FIX" kind of message everytime I looked at it, it's gone now.
The taskbar bt icon says it's paired, has a mac address, adaptor name and Trusted.
I'll reboot the system later on and check it again. Thanks.

#612 Re: Hardware & System Configuration » Realtek Bluetooth 5.0 usb dongle firmware » 2021-01-07 12:59:41

I managed to use that as a hack, to copy the binary(s) to /lib/firmware/rtl_bt/

And I see it load, but now I have a problem with the hand-shake and the P7 headphones pairing, but the bluetooth app on the plasma taskbar says it is paired and it is trusted.

I'll keep working on this later... thank you for your assistance, I got a long way from where I was by myself, much appreciated.

#615 Re: Hardware & System Configuration » Realtek Bluetooth 5.0 usb dongle firmware » 2021-01-07 07:08:44

Thank you for your reply, I already have it for my wifi card. I did a search of the system for "RTL8761B_FW.bin" without the caps, came up with nothing.

Hi I have recieved a Realtek Bluetooth 5.0 usb dongle today for some headphones that require bt ver 5.0

I see a message about missing realtek firmware rtl8761b-fw (RTL_BT RTL8761B_FW.bin)

Anyone know where I can get this binary file?

I had a bit of a look and it seems there is a working version (AUR) but I'm not sure what to do with it.

Any guidance is appreciated

regards Glenn

Yes, but I can't help but think that it , the surveillance state starts under the rule of law, and the private sector takes it to the limit and then the gubbamnt taps into their systems under the guise of Public Safety.

My 2c, I can't tell the difference. I can easily edit what runs to stop things I don't require with Openrc. But I have no technical knowledge of the differences.

#620 Re: Off-topic » (privacy) surveillance state? » 2021-01-04 22:10:04

You don't have to be a conspiracy theorist to acknowledge what the governments keep secret, using software and devices to surveil the populace for threats the private sector is using as human management tools to track efficency. Big Brother is already here, slowly, sometimes quickly removing our freedom of choice.

Absolutely! But there's been a shake up lately, no more jazz show sundy morn... but plenty of new shows coming through.

I love the format, and the energy. Peace Brother!
