Good luck! And for others who may want to go down that road . . . here's a quote from the Debian Wiki. The same goes for Devuan, of course:
Don't make a FrankenDebian
Debian Stable should not be combined with other releases. If you're trying to install software that isn't available in the current Debian Stable release, it's not a good idea to add repositories for other Debian releases. The problems might not happen right away, but the next time you install updates.
The reason things can break is because the software packaged for one Debian release is built to be compatible with the rest of the software for that release. For example, installing packages from Jessie on a Wheezy system will also install newer versions of core libraries including glibc. This results in a system that is not Wheezy or Jessie but a broken mix of the two.
Repositories that can create a FrankenDebian if used with Debian Stable:
Debian testing release (currently stretch)
Debian unstable release (also known as sid)
Ubuntu, Mint or other derivative repositories are not compatible with Debian!
Ubuntu PPAs
Don't manufacturers sometimes put strange data on flash drives that could be causing this? Maybe some 'security' or MS idiot feature?
Ubuntu is NOT Debian. The guide specifically says:
This document describes how to upgrade to Devuan Jessie from a Debian Wheezy install or migrate from a Debian Jessie install . . .
Mixing distros/repos, even those based on Debian, can really screw up a Debian/Devuan install and create a Frankende**an.
Backup your data, do a clean install and import your files.
And it did!
Hi darry1966 and welcome to the forum! Did you know that one of the lead Devuan developers is from NZ?
You are free to build whatever packages you like in git.devuan.org. Whether they would be adopted as 'default' or 'official' is another matter.
Ah, so you've moved from documentation to packaging. Now I understand.
I cannot fully answer your question but I do know that Devuan packaging is done with the d1h Devuan packaging helper. Properly built and reviewed packages are usually put in experimental for testing. All this is done on devuan.git.org.
golinux its there any plan to get futer incubation process for users like mentors or similar?
I have no idea what you're asking. Could you please try again?
The suggestion that your material will be 'taken' is ludicrous. Feel free to post it elsewhere. The wiki is undergoing some changes and your situation there will be resolved shortly.

This is not in our roadmap at all. The prelimiary work I've done to see
if we can gain Wayland support centers around moving drawing to GTK3;
A month or so ago, there was discussion of packaging TDE for Devuan but it hasn't happened yet (and may not)
@mckaygerhard . . . Do you have to be so consistently insulting to others on this forum? Why would you expect someone to get excited over something for which they have no use? And why do you demean the solutions that work for them? Reality check . . . you do not have all the answers and your way is not the only way . . .

No need to do that. There are already three black themes available under user profile.
Very impressive. Congratulations
Oh, I had nothing to do with that. They were part of the default FluxBB install. I only did the two purpy themes. ![]()

Be careful if you take a long time to write a post. Sometimes posts go 'missing' when it's time to post if you're not cookied with the 'stay logged in' option.
what formatting tools - this text came from 'geany' editor
the add new post didn't indicate to me any....
'
whoa - I just clicked on the ? [url tag: on and got a whole new page of formatting info !!!!.
Did you not notice the line of BBCode tags on top of the input box? All that formatting is just a click away.
Thanks. Your notes are welcome. Presentation just makes the information more accessible to the eye/brain.
created new post "ASCII-install notes"
'
@fsmithred - my focus of this original post is that there is no 'devuan-ascii.list'
golinux refers to it in post "How to update to ascii?" comment #7 - caused @keos many posts
'
the /etc/apt/sources.list.d/devuan.list file does contain ascii information
The information I posted for keos can be found on the website at the bottom of this page.
Could you please format your "ASCII-install notes"? As presented it might as well be chicken droppings thrown at a wall to my eye. In fact all of your posts could use some layout love.
That's really hard to read. Maybe you could use the formatting tools to help users find their way through it?
Be calm, and observe.
Good luck with that . . .
i working on something to publicite a how to and good documentation due the git devuan doc project seems was death some "years" ago (exactly 2).. take easy...
The placeholder on git has never been developed. Devuan documentation is currently being developed on the Friends of Devuan wiki. That may eventually be moved to Doc Devuan.
With all due respect . . . you do not have the language skills to write acceptable documentation in English. Please focus you energies elsewhere.
. . . or i assumed its a copy based that only remove systemd and then release?
Please don't equate your assumptions with fact.
so then dont change the name.. only put "Debian-sysvinit derivative" and get on the Debian derivates list
It is painfully obvious how little you know about Devuan. Rather than clogging this board with (mostly useless) posts perhaps you should start reading the DNG mailing list archives to get up to speed.
.. please men!
Please get a clue that there are not only 'men' on the Devuan team.
FluxBB hasn't accumulated many such themes. Most themes it has seem old, selection is limited.
Currently there are 10 non-purpy themes available from the user profile on this board. Anyone who doesn't like the default is free to choose one of those or do as follows . . .
Perhaps you (and others with similar concerns) could contribute some, and demonstrate? It is Open-Source … and may be easier than you think - especially with their community's encouragement.
You can also find alternate FluxBB themes here. They may or may not work on this version of FluxBB so YMMV.
I use rsync and refractasnapshot
You are confusing the contents of the 'Quick Overview' (contained in the table) with the content of the webpage. The link to Dec Devuan is an invitation for participation to create documentation.
so then not post that link! the project of documentation seem 2 years inactive! so there's no project at all
Where exactly are you seeing a link to that? Sometimes links are to offer information. Sometimes links are to encourage participation.
