I have offered the VPS where d1g used to be if he wants to migrate the forum there in a more acceptable format. But that might not be so easy to do now that tapatalk has mucked around with the DB.
All compatible Debian packages are in the Devuan merged repos. Do not use Debian pkgs directly.
Have you installed the multiarch packages?
Did you try it?
Forced migration of Free Forums to tapatalk. Tapatalk is more geared to the facebook and mobile device crowd than Linux geeks.
greenjeans wrote:I kept thinking about this project yesterday, and it struck me that the very detailed listings in that script would be perfect for a live-sdk "blend" file too, that may be something to look at.
I've never heard of a live-sdk blend file before, could you tell me more about it?
Simple Distro Kit (SDK) is a Devuan thing. There's a lot of info on the devuan.org site. ![]()
That's what got me confused, when people say experimental I'm thinking Ubuntu style of a tag you'd append in the repositories (which I tried and naturally it threw angry errors at me), as opposed to ASCII. I realise ASCII is where all the fun is at, however in trying it (updating sources.list and apt-get update) I was a bit confused as I couldn't see eudev or vdev, is there something I'm missing?
Maybe this will help? https://devuan.org/os/etc/apt/sources.list
Actually it's in the devuan ascii repo (or so says this pkg list) http://devuanpackages.viralds.it/ascii/package/yad
Tor doesn't work for registering either. Have you seen Can't register because you are a 'spammer'? If someone gets thwarted by the spam measures and really wants to be here, they can contact us to do it manually. We've done it several times. Personally I despise captchas. But let's see what the backend admins think about your suggestions.
As to trolls . . . have you read our (almost) no code of conduct?
Your enthusiasm is commendable. But your thoughts have been a bit much for me to process. Mostly I tune out after about two paras . . . ![]()
@golinux was a squeaky wheel earlier today . . . every so often it works. ![]()
Thoughts about using smile.amazon.com to support charitable groups? Any downside other than 'they' can track what you are supporting?
@sgage . . . Pretty much all of us lowly forum dwellers are in the dark
@JoshuaFlynn . . . There is no google recaptcha on this forum. FWIW we also use the SFS db to filter out bots which has actually caused more trouble than the questions because of spam tainted IP blocks especially on VPNs.
Some good comments and ideas there.
Let me add a few complications....
"What's the truckers channel?" In Australia there is no such thing as a 'trucker', they're 'truckies', as are 'bikers', 'bikies', and the radio channel used is 40. Even those of us who use UHF radio probably wouldn't have the faintest clue what channel is used in North America, which, I think, is still 27MHz anyway.
Questions on pronunciation can be equally as difficult. For the word 'defeat' we say diff-eet with accent on the second syllable, as opposed to dee-feet with accent on the first. Asked to type how I'd pronounce 'Devuan' I'd likely put 'dev-wahn'. Pronouncekiwi has some interesting variations.
So even for English speakers this can be hard, harder still for those even from Latin based languages and nigh on impossible for those who come from an East Asian background. Anyone tried to decipher pronunciation in Pinyin?
Agreed on pronuciation questions. FTR, there is an 'official' audio rendering of Devuan here
Colours. My business revolves around colours and not in a pink fit would I describe the Devuan scheme as 'purple'. Violet grey, perhaps.
We call it Purpy. But purple seemed close enough.
Staying a step ahead of the bots is one thing but keeping the questions answerable is another. Good luck.
This site was bot-proofed 247 days ago. In those months it has stopped over 16.000 bots dead in their tracks. The numbers are constantly escalating. A few days ago we had over 550 blocked in a 24 hour period. Not one has gotten through yet. So the system works and is non-negotiable.
New and improved questions are always welcome.

Ah . . . that's what I was thinking. Just wanted to make sure.
Links to Devuan-related sites are always welcome. The use of the logo may be more restricted depending on how it's being used. Might be a good question to post to dng. Jaromil would be the one to ask.
What's an S.O.? Dyslexic typo?
Those are the elephants in the room, aren't they . . .
Unfortunately, no crystal ball here.
When I access "users and groups", Devuan is also not listed. I check Debian and it works just fine.
When you say experimental, do you mean experimental in ASCII or experimental in Jessie?
The experimental repo is not tied to a release afaik.
@JoshuaFlynn . . .
Working backwards . . .
You can share artwork on the Friends of Devuan wiki.
Packagers who can help to clean out systemd dependencies are always welcome. Have you seen the Devuan packaging helper? Check with parazyd about which packages are a priority.
Once you have your distro together, please post to the derivatives forum.

Every bit of information adds depth and every new pair of eyes a new perspective. Welcome to the forum. ![]()
You might be interested in comparing your lists with these three. I assume parazyd obtained them from apt searches on the output of amprolla3 (which should be operational soon). They were included in his recent ASCII release proposal:
outdated packages in Ascii: http://sprunge.us/AIeF
These packages might and might not need updates, but we should figure out if there is some necessary releases to be done regarding security.libsystemd packages in Ascii: http://sprunge.us/cfAW
These packages shouldn't have to be forked at this point, since the library doesn't do anything if systemd is not there.banned packages in Ascii: http://sprunge.us/ALPE
I hope you understand that this thread is tongue-in-cheek humor.
I would like to see the Devuan developers offer even experimental access to alternatives to udev (such as eudev, vdev, etc) even if not necessarily working out of the box or particularly integrated.
Both eudev and vdev are available for testing in ascii but I'm not quite sure where they are maybe in experimental.
Now that's funny!
That was pretty much the setup I had on my last laptop (lubuntu), except Audacious. I have now the same on the X1. Pulseaudio gone, ALSA in. As you said, it did not help with the buttons though. I:ll dig into this at a later time. The way it is now is good enough.
Sometimes it takes a while to sort things with Linux. BTW, audacity and audacious are two different things. ![]()
