This is what i have at  /etc/fstab what do you means by to put an entry for MX partition?

Yes.  I have these entries in my jessie fstab just in case I ever need something from there.  You should do something similar if you want to access MX from Devuan.

#wheezy root
UUID=0bd40b55-d186-42bd-ae7d-764c90a2414b /wroot	ext4	ro,noatime 0 0
#wheezy home
UUID=16bd883c-e550-4883-895c-a4564730b242 /whome	ext4	ro,noatime 0 0

I forgot to said that in MXLinux Devuan is not even over there.

Sorry, it is over there but not as Devuan but as "volume of 104 GB".

MXLinux:

 GNU nano 2.7.4 Fichero: /etc/fstab

# Pluggable devices are handled by uDev, they are not in fstab
/dev/sda3 / auto defaults,noatime 1 1

I suggest to always use UUID or labels rather than partition numbers (/dev/sdxx) which could change if you add removable devices and put you in a world of hurt..

#2553 Re: Hardware & System Configuration » Problems going into another operative system. [solved] » 2018-06-01 18:37:32

I assume you want to mount MX to read files there.  If so you will need to put an entry for your MX partitions(s) in Devuan's /etc/fstab.   And the reverse in MX if you want to mount devuan from a running MX system.

No one is offended and no apology is needed.  The elves are working very hard in the workshop which unfortunately leaves some very public tracks for the curious kiddies to find.  Adding a "?" at the end of the subject would make your find more speculative . . .

#2558 Re: Off-topic » what is the difference between ./ and ././ [SOLVED] » 2018-05-30 18:36:47

I have often used something similar ../ or even .../ in web design to navigate to various files in the tree structure of a complicated site.  Is ././ in a path to a file?  Or within some code?

mate-system-monitor is in the Ascii repos.

Yes, I checked and saw it there.  It wasn't when I installed that VM several months ago.  AntoFox must have updated some pkgs.

I like both Mate and Xfce but as of late slightly prefer Mate. Everybody has his/her preference but making compton work in Mate or in Xfce is just the same. The problem is using a preconfigured compton.conf and probably the default compositor at the same time.

The default Xfce compositor works fine here so I've never experimented with other options.  I did resort to using compiz to address deficiencies in gnome2 maybe 10 years ago.  Really more trouble than it's worth.  The rotating cube was kind of neat though.  Choice is a good thing . . .

So I'm curious,  what DE do you use now?

Xfce since wheezy.   I actually tried Mate on wheezy too but it still had all the annoyances of gnome2 so that was the end of it.  I do use some Mate apps - pluma, atril etc..  Several of those aren't available for ascii - mate-system-monitor, mate-system-tools - which is a bit of a bummer.

Long before Mate, gnome2 got very long in the tooth for me.

Doesn't mate have a startup menu in settings where you can add whatever you want?

#2563 Re: Installation » download all the *.deb of my actual installation, all the sources » 2018-05-28 21:58:43

jessie install isos are still available at http://files.devuan.org

You might find this page useful.

debs of installed pkgs are stored in /var/cache/apt/

OK Miyo . . . I heard your plea . . .

My wardrobe is so basic it would never include a message T-shirt so please don't add me to the draw.  But for a change of pace here's the default darkpurpy Xfce desktop - black is banished and not a terminal in sight.  LOLOLOL!!

That's pretty much how my desktop looks.

I think is better to download another iso and install this time in spanish. Which iso do you recommend me for spanish installation?

Any way thank you very much.

There are no official devuan images on sourceforge.  Please download one of the options from https://files.devuan.org/ or one of our mirrors at https://devuan.org/get-devuan.

#2569 Re: Installation » How to install Devuan system/language into spanish? [solved] » 2018-05-25 17:47:18

Since we don't know what medium (s)he used to install, if (s)he has a DE or which DM (s)he's using (if any) it's impossible to troubleshoot.

#2570 Re: Installation » How to install Devuan system/language into spanish? [solved] » 2018-05-25 17:25:26

Would probably be helpful to know which iso you used to install.

There is no automated "confirmation request".  Just let us know here that it's working.

<rrq> which IP ?
<rrq> maybe 24.xxx.xxx.122 which requested "HEAD /req_message HTTP/1.1" some 12 hours ago?
<rrq> i've un-dubious-ed that IP

Please confirm.

I just woke up.  It is not personal so you can relax.  rrq has installed a "snaplock" on this forum to flag "dubious" addresses as part of our spam control.  It has caught a few users and even caught me several times when my IP has done something funky.  So you can relax.  rrq actually put a button in the admin panel but honestly I am hesitant to click it as I don't know that it has ever been used in a real-life situation and I don't want to bring the forum to its knees if he isn't around to fix things.  I just pinged him but chances are he's zzzzz down under.
