Let's gooo! ![]()
Now waiting for the new Trinity Desktop version to come out, then I can perform a fresh install.
Thank you folks for your hard work, it's much appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to come up with such an interesting spin! I use Devuan + TDE stable as my daily driver, its the combo that made me stop distro-hopping and I can't praise enough how both projects represent a beacon of hope in the modern Linux ecosystem!
With Darkness being on the dev/testing branch of both TDE and Devuan I can't commit to installing it on my production machine, but I wish you all the best with this project!
And the addition of XLibre...? Chef's kiss 🤌
After a couple of weeks I have encountered the same issues, even after installing pavucontrol-qt. I have noticed that the issue occurs when my laptop is connected via HDMI to a monitor, and I plug in my AUX headphones. As mentioned by Tweedlewise, it's all very random: a reebot solves the issues most of the time, but sometimes I have to do soma magic with the audio control panel or unplug the HDMI / aux to make it work.
The issue is still solved anyway, and it doesn't bother me that much when it happens ![]()
Well, that's a good question! ![]()
I'm not sure really. As mentioned, I wasn't tinkering or anything, nor did I perform any update. I turned the laptop off last night and everything was working, then this morning I was greeted with no audio.
Hey there folks ![]()
Suddenly I have no audio on my system. It's been working perfectly for months, but then I turned the laptop on this morning and... Silence! I haven't tinkered with the system recently, so not sure what happened there.
How can I check if it's something system-wise or if I need to blame my DE (Trinity Desktop)?

Thanks for your help!
EDIT: Well, that was quick. Installing pavucontrol-qt and setting PulseAudio as the current mixer in Kmix did the trick. Leaving this here in case other users encounter the same issue!
I'm a happy user of a StarLabs StarBook. I believe it's a 6th generation one, no complaints whatsoever. And the bios update process is pretty straightforward; I've had it for a couple of years and the laptop improved with each update. Highly recommended! ![]()
Thanks for this.
I believe Devuan 6 implementation of X11 will still be ok for my needs, but it will be interesting to see how XLibre will step up to become the de-facto X11 - maybe in a couple of releases?
In addition to what you mentioned, and to highlight how 32-bit libraries are still extremely important even in 'developed' countries, it's worth noting how Steam and gaming in general heavily relies on such libraries to work. Like it or not, Linux popularity is increasing mainly because of Steam Deck and Proton.
Ubuntu planned of getting rid of 32-bit libraries in 2019, only for Valve to step in and say they'd stop recommending using Ubuntu, which resulted in Canonical backtracing on that plan. Fedora did the same recently, planning on dropping 32-bit libs for Fedora 44, which was then scrapped thanks to community's backlash.
I still haven't found a calculator that works like good old Kcalc from KDE 3.5 (yes I know there is TDE which probably has preserved it)
I use Trinity, and can confirm that the old Kcalc is alive and doing really well! ![]()
But why anyone would pick chromium based web browsers over firefox is beyond me.
I use Pale Moon as my daily browser and Vivaldi for work, as we rely a lot on Google services (Chat, Classroom, Drive etc.) that, alas, simply work better on Blink and Chromium based browsers.
To remain in topic of cooperation as central motivation, Mozilla's rebrand announcement last year states:
Mozilla isn’t just another tech company — we’re a global crew of activists, technologists and builders, all working to keep the internet free, open and accessible.
Which is great on paper, but it's somehow difficult to take seriously considering how Google is, as a matter of fact, paying the biggest portion of your bills.
Thanks for your query, let me know if you get a reply!
I'm eager to contribute the way I can, although evangelising and a small contribution is all I can do for now! ![]()
Does merch purchased through Spreadshop contribute to funding the project? I recently moved to Devuan and grabbed a shirt from the website as a mini-celebration and a way to donate, but I don't know if revenue from selling merchandise is included in the annual report.
