I'm restarting my quest to install an MSI AX1800 with Realtek rtl8852bu chipset. The error message displayed when trying to install the driver makes no sense, so I think I will try to install the 6.17 kernel which allegedly contains the driver I need. But Synaptic does not offer that kernel. Is it available for download or must I compile it?

Thanks for the reply. I added "deb http://deb.devuan.org/merged excalibur-backports main" to sources.list and was able to install the 6.18 kernel via Synaptic. However, the driver error message remains the same, that the 6.17 kernel already contains the driver and do I want to disable it to install the new one. That is the most confusing message I've seen in a long time. I'll just try different options and see what happens.

Okay, my messing around with a driver install was not necessary, as 6.18 really does include the driver. I had to reinstall Devuan to clear up my many mistakes, but I can now use the MSI AX1800.
