[SOLVED] Black screen for Desktop

Excalibur has been running spotless after the upgrade from Daedalus, except now the desktop seems broken. It opens as a folder via file managers and the items are there, but when selecting Desktop via the xfce4-panel only xfce4-panel and dock are displayed, the desktop is black.

OS: Devuan GNU/Linux 6 (excalibur) x86_64
DE: Xfce 4.20
WM: Xfwm4
WM Theme: Default

What happens if you run

xfdesktop

in a terminal?

Thanks, that brings back the Desktop.

$ xfdesktop

** (xfdesktop:5763): WARNING **: 19:50:11.313: Failed to register the newly set background with AccountsService '/usr/share/images/desktop-base/desktop-background': GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.InvalidArgs: No such interface “org.freedesktop.DisplayManager.AccountsService”

Do I need to repair something?
EDIT: I may have accidentally selected a non-existing desktop-background.
