This is NOT a Devuan specific issue, but I hope some of you guys can help me out.
Sometimes, but not always, when I shut down my HP ZBook 15 G2 (either using sudo poweroff or even the power button) after a few seconds it restarts as though I rebooted it. This happens both with MX Linux and Devuan.
If right away I press the power button, it then shuts down for good.
Any suggestions as to how troubleshoot this problem?

Hello:
... when I shut down my HP ZBook 15 G2 ...

TL;DR
Disable the “Wake on LAN” option in the BIOS.
If that does not work, check this link where you will find many hits with posts by people having the same issue.
Sometimes, Google can be a friend. 8^°

Your suggestion Disable the “Wake on LAN” option in the BIOS worked.
Thanks a lot.
To be honest, I didn't search much cause I thought the issue would be uncommon. It turns out I was mistaken.
Funny how HP support answer to someone raising this issue was basically... don't use Linux.

Funny how HP support ...
Actually it is tragic.
For years now, Bill Hewlett and David Packard (founders of the original HP) have been turning in their graves three times a minute.
To think what HP was and see the piece of crap that it has become ...
Uncanny.
