netinstall ISO

What kind of installation do I get with the netinstall ISO? Is that a full installation or a reduced one? If a reduced one, how can I update to a full installation? I can't find an update manager in my menu.

Re: netinstall ISO

'Netinstall' is just the very basics to allow you to download (via ethernet cable) what you want from the internet when installing a new O/S.

Installer ISO - 'Desktop' is a DVD sized installation media (run it from disc or pendrive) useful if you don't have internet connection handy when installing.

'Desktop Live' is the easiest way to install a ready made system onto your computer.

'Minimal Live' is a full command line distro.

Re: netinstall ISO

I used netinstall ISO because it was smaller to download. And the installation took a long time, almost 40 minutes. Nevertheless, I have the impression that my installation has very few applications. For example there is no update manager, only synoptic. There is no tool to format a USB or write an ISO to it. And so on. Do I really have the full version? If not, how can I go from the basic version to the full version without installing the applications individually?

Re: netinstall ISO

What do you call a 'full' version?

To me, that would be 'Desktop Live'.

But if you want commandline, then choose 'Minimal Live'.

Re: netinstall ISO

@Camtaf

I mean a version with a lot of applications installed. But I think I missed somethin during the installation. Maybe there I could choose, if I want a base installation or the full one. For example in my menu/multimedia is not even a videoplayer and a audioplayer. That is very strange for a big distri like Devuan. But when the new version is ready, I will just begin again smile

Re: netinstall ISO

You should be using 'Desktop Live' then, not 'Netinstall'. smile

It is quicker & easier to get a system up & running with the 'Desktop Live' version.

Re: netinstall ISO

What camtaf said is probably the best way. Although netinstall should give you the tasksel option to install devuan desktop along with xfce, mate, kde, lxqt, lxde, desktop environments which should pull in a large amount of gui apps to work with.
