Good news, debian stretch will be stable in less than a month.

This is good news for us too, as long as we remove that horrid systemd, which I know you intend to remove.

we can have the latest packages of debian, without the lack of stability, security issues, and other junk from systemd.

I am looking forward to devuan ascii becoming stable. till then, I will wait and enjoy what I have now. smile

Thank you devs for deciding to fork debian. by the way. smile

also I should add, the 4.9 kernel is still supported, 3.16 one is NOT supported.

As long there is support for Jessie which will last until 2020. The kernel 3.16 does not have to be excluded from updates (security at least).
Indeed good news regarding speeding up the stretch release.

Yes Although it is actually june 17th not 16th. my bad. hehe.

as for kernel 3.16, it is supported by debian perhaps, but just them.

We'll get updates for 3.16 series up to 2020, So do not worry. 3.16 is a LTS kernel.

If there would be a news or changes for this kernel in a way we'll get to know.

Regards!

I had thought all kernels lasted for 2 years at most other than Super long term support kernels which are supposedly 10+ years

https://www.cip-project.org/blog/2016/1 … nce-europe

this is one such example...

although, I just checked and the kernel that was mentioned actually lasts 6 years...

well I guess I don't know as much as I think. smile
