I'm running ascii.
The onboard graphics card is Radeon 3000.
01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] RS780L [Radeon 3000]
When I starts Blender 2.8 from installed directory, it freezes the system and I have to reboot by pressing the power button.
Blender 2.79 has been working fine.
Thanks in advance.

How exactly did you install Blender 2.80? Did you just download the tarball, unpack it then run the blender executable?
If you start it from a terminal does it show any error messages when it freezes?

How thoroughly frozen is it?
Does ctrl-alt-f1 get you to a text console when it's hung?
Can you log on from another system (if you have one)? If it's only the GUI that's hung you should be able to investigate then. If that session hangs as well set it running top etc before starting blender and the last screenful should be readable on the other system.
Does pressing caps/num/scroll lock light up the LED on the keyboard.
Does ctrl-alt-del have any affect?
Does the reset button reboot the system? I'd not expect a software bug to stop that.

I checked the Blender website. Apparently Blender 2.8 stops supporting old graphics cards which include Radeon HD 3000 unfortunately. Two or three years ago AMD stopped supporting legacy graphics card too. Since then I've been using Open Source Radeon driver in Xorg.
I will try the methods you guys mentioned and report the result here.

Blender 2.8 is very buggy release. I recommend to wait a bit or send bugreports to the Blender project. And, of course, you have to list driver and mesa versions you tried to use with Blender.

It's related only to the OpenGL version supported by driver and hardware.
