Migration ascii -> beowulf. Mate Shut Down disappeared

One week ago I migrated my work laptop from Devuan ascii to beowulf. Everything seemed to go fine but when I logged in into my mate desktop I realised that the meny entry System -> Shut Down was gone. Now I have to enter

$ sudo shutdown -h -P now

in a terminal to shutdown.

Is this a know problem and is there a solution? I haven't found anything in the forum.

Is the elogind package installed?

Thanks a lot. elogind had indeed not been installed. I do not know exactly why and I hadn't noticed any error during the dist-upgrade. I have installed it not (it had to remove consolekit, if I remember correctly) and now the shutdown function is back.
