Halflife 1 native engine for Linux? (Free Project with source)

Hello,

Halflife 2 can be played native under Linux, but what about HL 1 (halflife 1).  (Free Project with source)

It works well under Wine but well, native would be awesome.

Would you eventually heard of anything in this direction?

thank you

yeah hl1 ep1 for windows, it was a cool hit at that time. maybe about 1997 something.

Yeah opensource rules, steam is an enterprise, and we go with opensource in our free direction for ad-free, freedom.

Yes Half-Life and all its expansions have been ported natively. As far as opensource there is the project Xash3D, but in my own experience I had several problems that I don't really recall (and may have since been fixed as I probably tried over 6 months ago)

First episode was the Toxic incident in the Black Mesa center who provoqued by Gordon Freeman who destroyed the center and propulsed him on XEN were he meet some strange creature. Not free. I never play next ep but there is a SDK leaked on p2p network (Sierra valve etc etc).
