Firefox has resize problems
Do you still experience these problems if you start Firefox in "safe" mode?
Firefox version is 78.3.0esr (64-bit) and uname is 4.9.0-13-amd64 GNU/Linux).
Those are the beowulf versions. Are you using ASCII or beowulf?
cat /etc/os_release
apt policyNo luck.
That is not enough information for us to be able to help you — please post the relevant log entries that show the failures to which you allude.
Can we also see
update-alternatives --display iptables
iptables-saveVoidlinux is good except for one thing... I don't like that they have a very new kernel. Also, no linux-libre option.
Void have an LTS kernel metapackage which is currently tracking the 4.14 branch and also offer 4.4, 4.9 & 4.19. Their kernels are already de-blobbed.
Devuan at least has that option thanks to jxself.org
Devuan's kernels are also de-blobbed, no need to rely on third-party repositories.
Hmm, can we see
cat /sys/power/state /proc/swaps
free -hYou did run my suggested command from a root prompt, right?
I had Thunderbird updated to version 78 on Debian testing more than a week ago
Are you sure about that? I've just added bullseye to my buster box to check:
~$ apt policy thunderbird

~$Doing online bankiing over tor is not only utterly pointless, it's also potentially dangerous.
Quoted for truth.
Note that the owners of the exit nodes can read your traffic (although it should be encrypted in the case of bank interactions). Also note that TOR was created by the US Navy and the NSA owns *many* exit nodes...
How about
# echo disk > /sys/power/stateEDIT: see also https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentatio … states.txt
Will dvd / blue ray drives be around 20 years from now?
That is a very good question: https://www.quora.com/Will-DVDs-still-be-around-in-2037
But the point of archival DVDs & Blu-Rays is that at least they'll definitely last until the players stop being available, at which point you can transfer the data to another medium.
^ Looks like the OP is already using the legacy iptables version.
And anyway there's no need to uninstall nftables:
# update-alternatives --set iptables /usr/sbin/iptables-legacythe graphics card "Quadro 770m" should be supported by legacy driver for nvidia?
What does nvidia-detect say?
And please post the full, verbatim error messages for the failed package installation.
For archives you should use archival Blu-Rays or DVDs. Hard drives don't last long.
Have you tried
# apt install {eb,arp}tables
# update-alternatives --set arptables /usr/sbin/arptables-legacy
# update-alternatives --set ebtables /usr/sbin/ebtables-legacy/usr/lib/policykit-1-gnome/polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1 & have resolved the issue
That only starts the agent once.
If the package is installed then Xfce should autostart it via /etc/xdg/autostart/polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1.desktop so check for ~/.config/autostart/polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1.desktop — that might be overriding it.
EDIT: and your kernels are outdated, you should install the metapackge:
# apt install linux-image-amd64/beowulf-backportsI don't find Mint any better or worse than any other distrobution quite frankly.
That's not what you said in the OP ![]()
This whole my distro is better than your distro thing is just plain bull shit.
Well, yes — all opinions are bullshit ![]()
You could grab the DMO source and modify debian/control so the dependencies are satisfied by the beowulf Kodi version but the add-on might not work for that.
I have policykit
~$ pgrep -a polkit 5210 /usr/lib/policykit-1/polkitd --no-debug
But you don't have a graphical authentication agent running so Synaptic can't ask for a password if you launch it from the menu.
Try this (run the first command as root and the second as your normal user):
# apt install policykit-1-gnome
/usr/lib/policykit-1-gnome/polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1 &Does Synaptic launch from the menu now?

What have you installed from backports?
aptitude search '?narrow(?installed, ?archive(stable-backports))'It is possible to exclude programs from compton's attentions, that might allow you to run a compositor without breaking thunar & palemoon: https://github.com/chjj/compton/issues/182
There is also the newer picom fork, which I have packaged up for De??an (needs updating though, I'll probably do that this weekend): https://software.opensuse.org//download … kage=picom
Or perhaps just use something like xcompmgr if you just want simple effects.
# aptitude install task-xfce-desktop- task-mate-desktopDo you have any polkit authentication agents running?
pgrep -a polkitEDIT: if this happened after an update then we should probably also see your sources:
apt policyPedroReina wrote:Devuman wrote:Searched dconf-editor for "save" and there's no corresponding setting.
May be under org.gtk.Settings.FileChooser
Nope.
Check again, my command just toggles the "sort-directories-first" option in the section suggested by PedroReina.
Remains: "recently used" save location option & corresponding folders list
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Either check ~/.xsession-errors or start thunar & palemoon from a terminal window and see if they print any error messages when you experience the problem.
^ This.
Or from the command line:
gsettings set org.gtk.Settings.FileChooser sort-directories-first trueVersion 6.7.4 of loksh is building now, it should be available soon:
https://software.opensuse.org//download … kage=loksh
@ibara has oksh v6.7.1 available but it's a pre-release and the only change is for cross-compilation support so I'm not updating the packages. OpenBSD 6.8 should be out soon and I will update oksh to that version as soon as it is available.

With which program are you attempting this operation?
