#1 Re: Installation » [SOLVED] No automount after update to Excalibur » 2025-09-07 10:41:34

Thank you very much for your reply.

I already thought that it was due to the project status. It was just a question of whether I might have made a mistake.

Then I will be patient and see if I can find the error log to send to the developers.

After successfully updating Devuan Daedalus to Excalibur, my shares that I entered in fstab, are no longer automatically mounted at system startup.
To update, I changed the entries daedalus to excalibur in /etc/apt/sources.list.

Here is my system:

Does anyone have any idea why my previously successful entries in fstab are no longer mounting my shares?

Thanks in advance.

I come from Arch distributions, so I still have a lot to learn about Debian / Devuan.

Thanks again for your help.

Hi rolfie,

I had only tried it with a simple su.
Your tip with

su -

solved my problem.

What is the difference between su and su -?

Hello everyone,

I have installed Devuan Daedalus 5.0.1.
Now I wanted to optimize my SSD and ran the following command manually, both as user and root:

fstrim -v /

Whether as user or root, I get the following error message:

bash: fstrim: command not found

I have run this command hundreds of times on various distros.
Does anyone have an idea what I am doing wrong?

Many thanks in advance.

Greets
Roberto

#6 Re: Desktop and Multimedia » KDE Desktop - Discover says I'm offline » 2023-08-27 17:53:26

What I can say is that Discover is part of the KDE Plasma Desktop.

Here's what the KDE website says:

"Discover helps you find and install applications, games, and tools. You can search or browse through categories as well as view screenshots and read reviews to find the best application for you.
Discover lets you manage software from multiple sources, including that of your operating system, Flatpak sources, the Snap store, and even AppImages from store.kde.org.
You can also use Discover to find, install, and manage extensions for Plasma and your favorite KDE applications."

Synaptic, on the other hand, is the package manager for apt.

I will try to uninstall Discover and then reinstall it again. Maybe then the program will understand what it is supposed to do.

Hello everyone,

Yesterday I installed Devuan for the first time. I chose Daedalus 5.0 with KDE Plasma 5 as desktop.
The installation went smoothly so far and the system is running stable and without problems.

However, I have the problem that Discover claims that I do not have an internet connection. This is not true, I have a perfect internet connection with NetworkManager.

Does anyone have any ideas or tips on how to tell Discover that I am not offline?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards
Roberto
