Thanks for https://github.com/pyavitz/debian-image-builder
I managed to build a rockpro daedalus devuan image from a chimaera host
It did need a bit of modification, the scripts
The rk3399 cpu got up to 70C building kernel, and not that speedy

Is there any plan to make gtk4 libs? I want to make iwgtk, maybe gtk4 is too new?

And?  what file might this be?  Could we have a link to the thread? or a thread name?

I tried, it seems you have to do incantations and sacrifice a couple witches to post a screenshot
The "help" is not very helpful
trying again,, seems file:/// is essential, if it works

file:///home/d/Pictures/Screenshot.png

and... it didn't worl

Use synaptic?  Like the icons?  Read no farther
Whoever picked the default should put their thumb into their eye,
it won't matter, they are blind already

sudo cat /root/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini
[Settings]
gtk-font-name=Noto Sans 10
gtk-theme-name=Breeze
gtk-icon-theme-name=emacs
gtk-fallback-icon-theme=gnome
gtk-toolbar-style=GTK_TOOLBAR_ICONS
gtk-menu-images=1
gtk-button-images=1

the one to change is   gtk-icon-theme-name  ,,  emacs is the traditional look, much better

Rod Smith, author of refind and gdisk has web pages about this,
all the gory details, very complete info about UEFI

#6 Re: Other Issues » Unable to format sdcard » 2018-02-20 01:03:37

Nand is 'funny' stuff
If you have a win box or vbox with win?
SD card formater does the equivelent of a fstrim on a nand device,
as well as an "optimal" format
You may notice that fstrim under linux only works on ssd drives,
not sticks or SD cards
Caution...it will erase the card, backup anything important

So I figured it out, there was no initrd.img for 4.14 or 4.9, and also no reference in the grub.cfg either
I completly removed and re-installed and grub

uname -a
Linux devuan 4.14.0-0.bpo.3-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.14.13-1~bpo9+1 (2018-01-14) x86_64 GNU/Linux

OK, I'm really stupid.. Looking at it again, it is a kernel panic because can't find root fs, (thinks it is 0,0  ???)
(the gigabyte line misled me)
But 3.16 boots OK, also fedora, 4.14.14 and 4.14.11 (on same stick)

Install,,  booted usb, changed repositories (to ascii), updated, installed

d@devuan:~$ ls -l /boot/vm*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 3128768 Apr 30  2017 /boot/vmlinuz-3.16.0-4-amd64
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4843280 Jan 14 18:48 /boot/vmlinuz-4.14.0-0.bpo.3-amd64
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4216608 Jan  4 06:12 /boot/vmlinuz-4.9.0-5-amd64

Edit: I should be more precise,, changed to ascii, updated, upgraded, install
I don't think it is anything to do with grub2, when in fedora grub-install,, same results
Before devuan I had mint which I wiped out to replace with devuan, no problem booting

Further,, earlier I tried adding insmod ahci into a stanza of grub,,
it did ugly but temporary things to my computer,, black screen but live keyboard
(Booting devuan 4.14)
CAD worked, but then there was no access to bios or restart of grub
A power off was needed to restore normal operation, button reset was not enough

I  did an upgade to ascii (csm, not UEFI) before installing, because ryzen
But then it would not boot, hard hang at .53 sec
Trying all the alternatives, 3.16 would boot
first I thought it was that grub2 had root=UUID for 3.16 and root=/dev/sdb2 for 4 series
That was not it
From the 3.16 boot, this is where (I think) it fails,
I can't be sure because the trace takes the whole screen and is hard locked
(one of the few advantages of systemd)
