I found that if you connect to the internet, it will download & install grub OK, if you don't connect to the internet before installing, you won't get grub installed.
Depends which version you installed....
I used to install from the live desktop, which booted to desktop, with sudo configured; nowadays, I just use the server version & install with XFCE, (no sudo configured).
Check out the packages differences between them.
Welcome aboard. ![]()
You are right, I should have said Excaliber - thats the trouble with using various different computer systems.... ![]()
Which ones are using Excaliber?
(Most seem to be using older versions)
Maybe doesn't help you, but I have no problems using Firefox on XFCE on my I3 or i5 computers, using Devuan from 'server' media installs.....
I don't see any reason to use multiple sites to discuss Devuan, it would fracture discussions over multiple sites, we have a very good place to discuss all thing Devuan right here. ![]()
If it likes Firefox but not PaleMoon, easiest fix would be to install Firefox, update/upgrade, then uninstall Firefox if you don't want to keep it. ![]()
....and it wasn't that long ago that the default user was 'pi', but at least now they ask at installation.... ![]()
But it still annoys me that they take over the whole disk.....
It's the normal way on Linux.... ![]()
Possibly, create a new user....
Basically, if you want systemd install Debian, but if you want freedom, use a systemd free distro - there are others as well as our favourite. ![]()
I suggest you take a look at antiX, they have various init systems, & have been using them for some time now...
Maybe we will get a non commercial internet because of this, it had been rumoured before that this might happen when commercial interests took over the web... ![]()
Why not/maybe just go ahead, & after installing refracta snapshot, just reinstall mate(?).
Yep, definitely back up your /home directory - then you can either attempt to regain access via single user/root account, or reinstall & replace your files to the new /home directory.
Welcome to freedom for you & your computer.... ![]()
My Chromebook runs Devuan/XFCE no problem, it is a 2GB ram 16GB eMMC machine, which I mainly use for a quick booting internet connection when I just want to look something up, of course, I could have installed less on it, but it works perfectly, except for sound, with Devuan. ![]()
Xshisen & Xpat2 - always install them.... ![]()
That's more like a database - sqlite would likely also be good for that sort of thing. ![]()
(I used to use sqlite, but found it an overkill for my usage though, that's why I reverted to a simple editor.) ![]()
But, we all have different ways of doing things, I guess....
Not only do I run Devuan/XFCE on my 'main' computer, (i3/8GB ram), but also on Dual Core with 4GB, it even runs quite happily on 2GB Dual Core Thin Clients that I have, I'm just a normal user, internet, music, videos, spreadsheet, etc. ![]()
Lol, personally, I just use an editor, does everything I need to take notes... ![]()
I just use dd, or sometimes just cp. ![]()
