This is how I found Devuan,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parrot_Security_OS
I was using ParrotSec OS, not really liking Mate to much.
After finding/reading the switching to Devuan - I came, I saw, I installed! tongue

Any contact or progress with the switch?

===================================
(Since this is kinda 'old news' now, these posts are about my attempts to get some parrot-type pkgs,
on my Devuan based installs, or getting parrot - Devuanized. hmm
My other ..Post Here.., has more recent failure/success stories,
installing & running: "Tor & Tor Browser, Anonsurf, & i2p ...on Devuan ascii w/Mate & MiyoXTRA ascii w/Openbox... so far tongue

I just keep thankin`ya dude smile
I cannot reproduce what left me with empty iso's...but its smooth sailing now!
I did tweak the snapshot conf & exclude list ~ not that I think it changed something.

When ya mentioned putting the installer in the menu or on desktop, the bulb went on
in my brain-space...we need it there (accessible) to do the new install ay!? tongue

(Optional) Run Bleachbit and Bleachbit as root to remove junk to help make your .iso smaller.

Really a good thing to do!
I gotta figure out how & what to include for Pale Moon cleansing...

press 1 on your keyboard (can't remember if you have to hit Enter on your keyboard also...sorry).

Yep - gots to hit Enter, after the choice is press`ed in... don't wait like I first did! tongue

Thx....asta~

Hi All & Thx... Life has got me elsewhere right now.  tongue
I will post somewhere, what I did & what I have no clue about...didn't want to disrupt greenjeans thread.
Thanks Miyo - I'd want to copy your info!
fsmithred ~ hello & thanks for refracta help! I just don't get "how-to" & "why", as my iso was nothing above a Mb.
I need time to type more & explain smile ...when time permits!!
asta~~

Thx golinux ~
Been there...
I did try to research - for the time I had, but didn't find answers for my 'dummy' questions.

I tried to iso my miyo, after installs & tweaks...no luck.
I figure to type my attempts/progress/failures and post it somewhere... hmm
No time also to ask on irc.
to be continued... yikes

Thx again  smile

This is what I got...
Vuu-do Linux Release Notes:
Version: 1.0.7 Openbox-64 minimal (non-uefi)| Software updated to: 2-01-2018

and you added,

All Vuu-do images include (and are built with) Refracta-snapshot, Refracta-installer, and Refracta2usb, making it easy for anyone to "roll their own". Users are actively encouraged to do so...

I'd like too...if I could only find the "Refracta for Dummies" instructions!! yikes
But thats another post smile

The iso I Dl'd is "vuudo-ob-64-20180201_1812"...right one? hmm

Just grabbed binary for 27.7.2 (64-bit) PMoon to install on this MiyoXTRA-ascii, using now...
only asked for ffmpg and easy install with GDebi. cool

Be back with info ~

Howdy greenjeans...
After taking MiyoXTRA for a good test-drive ~ it was time to put Vuu-do on the 2nd partition.
I must say...I likes the Openbox and both your choices of apps & minimal system.
I'll be hanging with this setup as I did when I installed Deb 2. wayyy back when... yikes

and noticed...

I jus` did a fresh install, and using synaptic, I reloaded for upgrades, these 2 marked with "!".
They want to remove packages & replace with systemd.
libpolkit-agent-1-0
policykit-1
Will check in the morn`in if desktop-base was included.

After the dist-upgrade, I was no longer able to shutdown/reboot from the obsession logout menu.

Same fresh install, then did the upgrade (without the 2) and also had shutdown issue.
I changed desktop background before this - after choosing shutdown from ob menu, the original background
flashed back, stayed - & seemed to be frozen.

My other laptop install shows desktop-base (1:0.99 to 1:2.0.1) in synaptic upgrade, & the same 2 "!" packages.
Did the terminal dist-upgrade and...

stanz@asswipe2:~$ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
The following NEW packages will be installed:

I thought it might not be the best place to put a rant.
But, I am totally being seriously humorous...expressing most
of the fun I'm having, with Devuan & Your Miyo! yikes
I saw somewhere (can't find it now) stating "made for the advanced user".
I just thought it awesome to make my own!
And just as awesome that you & others are making that happen smile

So, a - regular user, can read, that another regular user {& wife wink }...has had FUN
Miyo~ing a minimal Devuan OS.
It's also shown, you offer whatever help & support you can, which
we all appreciate allot!

Thx

yeah..I'd like to have known about openbox & more ~ so many years ago... roll
Got CCenter in menu...I tried for panel - but didn't read that part yet, from ob org.
More humorous questions to follow!

Thx again for all your time into this and the iso !

Wo~hooo! yikes
I mean...

ooouhh...&....ahhhh....

typing from xtra-ascii atm...
wow - really forgot about using www browser!! never really did honestly..
palemoon isn't easy to apt-get (wget i guess) - took it off usb to include here.

it's not tooo tuff for a new -point&click- user, that learnt afew terminal commands!
not enough for me tho, but a good learning tool.

never knew or used - openbox, conky, compton, etc.. so i'll probly brake many things
and re-install many times... lol

your release notes are awesome & thx for taking the time to put em there!
good writers learn others!

i'm gonna grab xchat or the likes, not to hijack posts here...you might have use for
your own forum! smile

Sorry stanz...you don't know me very well, but I think the folks here have come to accept my quirky sense of humor...or lack thereof. tongue

Don't stop... we all can use more humor! rock on` smile

The timeout has been increased to 30 minutes.

Also, if you check the box for automatic login (at the login screen) and you set dev1galaxy.org cookies to expire when closing the browser, it's the same as "keep me logged in". You won't be automatically logged in if the cookies are gone, and you won't be logged out if you go beyond the timeout.

I gots to adjust my last post...
I checked the login option - been here all day - refreshed and posted after hours of being outside playing snowman & I'm still logged in and posting now!

Hi All,
I had to get photos off my ol`ladies camara and found "ristretto 0.6.3 image viewer"
unable to make the connection to import the photos.

Using "shotwell 0.20.1 photo manager", from the repos - made the import easy.

I've not used Xfce & its programs enough to learn - so I'm just reaching to what worked.
I'd say shotwell might be a better package in Devuan then ristretto. tongue
Ya`all know better...but ~ I'm jus` saying... lol

#147 Re: Desktop and Multimedia » [Solved] Quod Libet plays, but no sound. » 2018-02-05 16:51:31

I'm gonna venture into Miyo's ascii release, right after I set up disk for dual boot!

#148 Re: Forum Feedback » Auto-logout » 2018-02-05 00:00:03

LoL..typed in file ~ c/p'ed here..

I don't believe the setting is still for 30 minutes.
My experiance is with phpBB, and being admin or mod, did make a differance...~ No biggie smile

But, I'm not complaining, it's on all forums & I just get bit once&again.
I believe another un-noticed issue lies in the browser cookie settings.
I just went thru this after a question with golinux.
I'm using Palemoon now, had Ffox before.
I had to change my browser cookie settings to accept & keep this forum's
cookie. When bringing up the forum site - I'm logged in already.

If I log out (which is what we're told to do for security/privacy practices) - cookies gone & need to sign in again.
Palemoon is not keeping my "Exceptions - Cookies" additions.
Adding DevForums to use cookies for session/always, might not stick,
which is no biggie for me.

Would be nice if user profile had choices for time-out/log-out preference.
But, now I'm jus` rambling... cool

Type time - 20min
c/p time - 2 nano sec  ... tongue

Never thought of it as keeping one logged in... ? smile
Will try it ~ Thx

If you click the option to stay logged in, you won't get bit by the timeout issue.
